Also in Chepachet: the haunted Tavern on Main (dine with ghosts, lol), Acote's Hill historic cemetery and site of the Dorr Rebellion, a beautiful summit with surrounding steeply sloped wooded hollows of pine and hemlock, the historic Baptist Church with its distinctive tracker pipe organ and the Pulaski and George Washington State forest wilderness areas.

In August, these forested inland roads burst into the delicious fragrance of our native summersweet (coastal pepperbush).
