A Few of My Favorite Things...

This is a short list of my favorite things to do in the area during summer! Its by no mean comprehensive, so if you want any other specific recommendations, just ask and I'd be more than happy to help you narrow down the options!
This is my absolute favorite place to relax on weekends! The coffee is out of this world(Try the Iced Thai coffee, its my favorite!), and the ambiance is quintessentially Asheville. Its a punk rock hideaway, an free spirited, eclectic spot that doesnt take itself too seriously. Its a converging spot for all walks of life. Its an older house, converted to a coffee shop so the huge porch and yard are full of tables of all sorts, for a group of 2 or 10. I love people watching, and BattleCat is the best place Ive found for that! Oh, and its open till 10pm!

One of my favorite dive bars. Its beside BattleCat, so you can pretty much spend the entire afternoon sunning outside and drinking coffee, then transition to something a little stronger for the evening. Its dive bar perfection!

THIS PLACE IS A GEM! I used to pay $50 a person to go tubing in Asheville, until I discovered this place. Its about 45 minutes east in the charming mountain town of Saluda, and its only $10 a person for a 3 hour tubing ride down the Green River! There are lots of class 1 and 2 rapids, so its both lazy at times and then fast paced! The Green River is also much cleaner than the French Broad that runs through Asheville! A lot less crowded too! As a local, this is definitely my top recommendation for family or friends fun! My son, boyfriend and I do it at least twice a month in the summer!

This place has indoor and outdoor skate parks, they offer camps for kids in the summer, and they're located in the River Arts District! The outside of all the buildings in that area are intentionally covered in high quality graffiti art.(Not the stuff you see on the side of trains, this is the beautiful stuff, the real art!) There are couches and wifi for the parents, so its a nice way to spend an afternoon!

This place is Disney World for adults! Although surprisingly, its incredibly family friendly. There is a huge outdoor area, with corn hole, boccie ball, a nature trail down to the river and various other fun things for kids and adults. They also have a large outdoor stage where they have a summer music concert series every weekend and a lot of week nights during the summer! The food is amazing(you must try the duck fat fries, and soy miso wings!), and the beer is world renowned.

A tucked away brewery on the river with huge outdoor spaces and great beer! There is usually a food truck there too!

Where else can you get married in a rock n roll chapel, or fake married for a weekend, listen to rock metal and punk music at night, get amazing drink specials, and then go to a punk rock flea market on Saturday mornings? Nowhere. This place is truly unique. It offers more musical variety than just rock, punk and metal, but I list those because its one of the few venues that consistently features those genres. They have comedy and other types of music as well. I personally love this place.
