Philly's Finest

Wouldn't call it a donut shop . It is a most delicious fried chicken place. That also happens to sell a lot of donuts and coffee. The chicken sandwich is pictured here has to be my favorite. Really so is everything else on the menu. If you get a chicken breast / wings combo you get a free donut included which is delish.

This place is nuts. Wonderful BBQ that is out of this world. Everything on the menu is great if you like BBQ. Who doesn't want to visit a log cabin in philly with bench seating, well that just makes it better. The drinks and beer on tap are to die for. Try to get in M-F happy hour for: 1/2 price beer; $5 Manhattans and Old Fashioneds; $4 smoked chicken legs; $4 burnt end sandwich.

Please Please go here! I just love this place. For some reason this decent cofee chain has in their philly headquarters location a grand breakfast nook. Bench seating to share the ambiance with all your new friends. Fresh bread and home cooked breakfast will wake you up and put you in a great mood. The space is just wonderful and has to be seen even if you don't actually eat anything. Also they brew rum there, I really don't know why?

I don't know why the food in this bar is soo good. Food shoudn't be that great in a bar right? Breakfast is great too. It's ok to go to a bar for breakfast right? Beer selection is the best of the best local brews.

This place is just nuts. So this is a brewery they give free tours and have free beer after the tour, during normal working hours! They sell beer here you can't buy anywhere else. They just brew certain beer to sell only here. Like you have a great beer and you ask how to buy it and they say you can't! Arggh. The food is great here too they are always changing the menu.

You going to be located in Northern Liberties / Fishtown area. It is a quieter place where younger people live. Counter-intuitively where most of the Nightclubs and Live Music Venues are located, you can google that to see what fits your fancy and who is playing where. You are righ next to Yards Brewing on Spring Garden, they have great food and beer of course, menu has a great variety beer you can only get at that location. There are so many breakfast/brunch places there and they are all wonderful based on what you like so definitely go eat breakfast/lunch at: La Colombe Fishtown 1335 Frankford Ave this place is just nuts please google it for pictures, lots to choose from. Honey's Sit 'n Eat this is a cozy traditional American style sit down breakfast place, Cafe La Maude this place is right next to Honey's Euro/French style very nice. Penn Treaty Park is a nice park with a children area, people fish on the river there pretty nice. Which is right next to the Sugarhouse Casino which is a casino if you like that sort of thing. Waterfront has lots of nice places to dine and play. Winter there is a ice skating rink (RiverRink) next to the Ben Franklin bridge with other attractions in summer same place has open festival atmosphere with hammock lounging (Spruce Harbor Park).

This is the main downtown where the trendy restaurants and shops are centrally located. Driving is a chore so anything but driving there yourself is a good idea. Once you get there walking is easy. Really only standout non shopping dining item is beautiful Rittenhouse Square.

South Street from First to 11th (not well defined but center of area), is a artsy area of the city. Lots of fun bars, restaurants, and artsy establishments or counter-establishments. Philadelphia's Magic Gardens are a unique place to visit here.

Italian section of the City Birthplace of the Cheesesteak! Walk down the Italian Open Market for cofee deserts and produce on 9th from Christian to Federal street. Which leads to Pats and Genos. Pat's is the original, right across the street is Geno's the upstart. Which leads to East Passyunk avenue where there are a lot of local fine dining restaurants and shops to peruse. If you are looking for authentic Hispanic food, South Philly would be the section of the city to find the a lot of good choices.

Philadelphia Great All Around Walking City

Philadelphia is a City of Neighborhoods I will go over the more interesting ones you will be interested in. Google Maps is your friend most of the places have reviews that will get you a good feeling for the place. Every restaurant's food is going to be very good, otherwise they would close pretty quickly in this competitive environment. Really just depends on what type of cuisine you like, Philly has everything from Venezuelan (Sazon) to Ethiopian (Kaffa Crossing). Higher pricing will get you better ambiance really. Driving and parking is fine everywhere except center city, lot of traffic.
