If you have to eat Italian food in the North End, this is one of the few good places to do it. The neighborhood is filled with tourist traps, but Carmen is a consistently good hole in the wall.

My new favorite restaurant in the area. They make modern French fair, and the 'egg in a jar' is currently my favorite thing to eat. Wait staff is also prone to hand out free drinks and appetizers.

Boston's third, and less-known gas lit neighborhood. Walk through on your way to Back Bay. It's a pleasant change of pace from the more crowded and newer streets downtown.
