A fantastic pub (located across the road from us!). The food is what you'd expect from a high quality restaurant (without the prices!). Closed Mondays (and food service only during the day on Sundays). Nice beer and lovely pub for a drink outside in the sun in the summer. Suggest booking ahead for peak meal-times.

Got to easily be one of the best restaurants in the area. Overlooking the river, with exceptional food, this is definately a winner for a special occasion / romantic dinner. Easy walk from here into Darley Park or for a quick drink in The Abbey (also an amazing pub)

Gastro Pub. Good selection of food. Pizza night on Tuesdays. Like the fact they also do their usual menu choices and specials on a Sunday as well as a carvery. Kid frindly with a kids menu and activity sheets/ crayons to keep them busy. Do offers 2 for 1 early doors in the week. Has a beer garden and plenty of parking. Nice views from the top floor seating. Only 10 mins drive away in rural village of Denby.

Our current favourite place to eat. Uses only locally sourced food. Menu changes regularly. Gorgeous rustic food. Quirky 'barter board' allowing local people to bring in this own produce in return for wine/ beer. Great place, great atmosphere. Check it out.

The Old Oak Inn at Horsley Woodhouse on the main road is a fantastic real ale pub. It is family friendly and dog friendly. There is a back bar open at weekends with even more locally brewed beers from the barrel. Does filled rolls at the weekend. You can buy duck eggs at the bar. Very friendly pub. You cannot stay in here without someone striking up a conversation with you. Tends to be busy from early-doors into the evening. An absolute favourite drinking spot. About £5 in a taxi from/ to Coxbench. Sometimes has live bands on in the back room. Absolute brilliant find.

A pub situated on the canalside at Willington. One of my favourite pubs in the summer. They do great food too, so you can sit in the pub garden by the canal, eating and drinking and then go for a stroll down the canal. Mercia Marina is in easy walking distance. Very popular pub in the summer, and generally year round for its lovely food

Set in an old Abbey on the edge of Darley Park, this is an amazing and quaint pub. The beers are also different, with local brews, organic beers, raspberry beer etc with also a range of snacks that are local/ organic. The Abbey also does food at selected times (e.g. a great spot for Sunday lunch). There is seating outside and this is a very popular summer pub with both locals, walkers and cyclists. It is walkable from Coxbench (it is a decent walk but it is a lovely walk down through Little Eaton, across the Meadows and round the Fishing lake, through Darley Mills and into the village)

This pub has recently reopened (July 2017) as a community-owned pub/ cafe (and soon post office). It does real ale, gin and very reasonably priced food and has appeared on national tv and newspapers on opening because of its 255+ owners who have helped to renovate the pub and bring it back to life. The view from the outside seating down the valley is lovely and the pub is located in the old part of Holbrook village. Well worth a visit. An upwards 20 minute walk and a nice downwards walk back to the Station after! The cafe (Spotted Calf) also opens daily for tea and cakes etc. Well worth a visit

Amazingly picturesque canal. This runs from Cromford through to Ambergate. There is now a canal boat that runs part of the Canal for short trips. At Cromford there is a large car park and cafe. You can park here and walk the canal. There are other alternative stops and starts , with a small amount of parking at Whatstandwell (near the Family Tree tea rooms). There is also a cafe situated along the canal and the historic pump house that is open a specific times in the year.

A sizeable park with play areas suitable for different ages from an assault course type area to a toddler area near to the visitors centre. There is a lovely cafe at the visitor centre and also the Nutbroof coffee shop is within 15-30 minutes walk of the park along many of the walking and cycling trails that traverse the park. There is also a pond and a reservoir (both which allow fishing with the appropriate permits). There is paking (paid) both at the Mapperley Reservoir (via Mapperley village) entrance and the Heanor Gate entrance near the visitors centre. The park often also hosts events in the summer.

Particularly recommend the Mug Tug Too at the Marina. It is a little boat that you can do crafts on. Great for kids and grown ups! Can just turn up , if there's a few of you or it's a weekend in summer you can phone ahead and reserve tables. You can even have birthday parties on the boat. The boat is moored and stationary. Lovely , friendly activity to do whatever the weather. here are also lots of other facilities at the Marina, shops, tea rooms, bar, nice walks and boat trips. Great place to go.
