If you're wanting a fancier dinner option, Balmac's is a great option. Nice atmos and great menu. Nestled up on the hills above the city so best to drive or bus.

Beautiful wild beach at the mouth of Otago Harbour. Cute 'cribs' (small holiday homes). Seals and sea lions can sometimes be spotted on the spit (the area closest to mouth) as can penguins at dawn and dusk. Great short boardwalk on right as you enter Aramoana.

Check out the galleries, secondhand shops, Port Royale cafe and walk up to the lookout featuring a mini sculpture park with a large Ralph Hotere work (significant NZ artist). Town has a backdrop of massive cranes and cruise ships. Keep driving and you'll get to Aramoana at the harbour heads ...
