Food Scene

It is the thing to do for lunch. Less than 10 min drive South of Highway 1 from Shorehouse. Bring your own wine or pick some up there - sit on the outdoor bar facing the wild breeze of Tomales Bay and enjoy oysters, seafood, and sandwiches from their smoker. Review from patron, "...I'm going to fantasize about eating here for the rest of my life. My mouth is watering just writing this review. If I could drive the 12 hours it takes for me to get here I would do it right now. This little shack restaurant has my heart..."

Their original creamery and cheese shop is located at Tomales Bay Foods, a former hay barn restored in picturesque Point Reyes Station. Say howdy to the cheesemongers behind the counter, who will help you find, taste, pair and purchase to-die-for cheeses from America and Europe. Take a gander around the barn and you’ll find The Cowgirl Cantina, a take-away deli offering delightful local breads, wines, sandwiches and salads. Enjoy our shaded picnic areas or take a magnificent hike in the Point Reyes National Seashore.

Local haunt with a sustainable focus offering artisan pastries, cookies, pizza & fair-trade coffee. Review from patron from a coffeetown, "...OMG. First of all, HOW DO THEY GET THEIR DECAF COFFEE TO TASTE THAT GOOD. The coffee was rich, dark, flavorful. How did they do it? I'd like to know the secret because what I make at home is never a tenth as good. Honestly it wasn't just the best decaf I've ever had, it was one of the best cups of coffee. Then there was the morning bun. It melts in your mouth. A million soft, buttery layers. Sure, there's a bit of a line usually but it moves pretty quickly. They are really doing something right in there..."

Big flavors served in a space where bicyclists and motorcyclists, ranchers and fishermen, residents and tourists bond over simple pleasures, like the croissants or that deeply satisfying first bite into a fresh from the oven baguette. Made in small batches with local love. Psst... it is the closest to Shorehouse!

Essentials

Bring your own bag - if possible. 'They say', "grab a bag of thick cut tortilla chips, a huge tub of guac and a buffalo milk gelato soft serve cone. Produce is on point, and the cheese selection (along with jams, cornichons and other accoutrement) is surprisingly deep. If you want to fill a picnic basket or get options for a roadside snack, Palace is just that!"
