A little slice of NOLA only 2 blocks away. This is a true gem: dive-y, with outdoor space, and the best fried clams you'll find in NYC.

Celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson made a huge impact on the neighborhood with this elevated southern-inspired soul food restaurant. I go here often. The cornbread is baller.

Arts & Culture
This place is iconic! Definitely a must-visit while you're in Harlem. Wednesday nights is amateur night, but don't be fooled, these performers are amazing (for the most part).

Parks & Nature
The weekend brings families and BBQs, along with baseball games all day long. The landscape architecture is remarkable, and the steep steps are massive. I like to stroll through on my way to Columbia University, and stop by the pond that is filled with discarded pet turtles. Sounds weird, but believe me, they are thriving!

This is a natural bolder park in the heart of Harlem. There's even an outdoor amphitheater with live music, Shakespeare, and magic shows all summer long. Did I mention it's free?

Less than 10 minutes from the apartment, you'll find this icon of landscape architecture. Olmstead would be happy you visited his first major public park. The north side of Central Park has the only naturally occurring bolder formation in the entire park. You can even get lost in the North Woods, or go for swim in the public pool. Peace and quiet in the hustle and bustle.

A lesser-known point of interest is Grant's Tomb, which is about a 25 minute walk from the apartment. It's pretty crazy the guy who lead the North to victory in the Civil War is entombed (in a HUGE red granite tomb) just up the street from where I live. His wife is in the tomb next to him.

A bit of a walk, but certainly worth it. This church was founded as NY's first African-American Baptist Church in 1808.
