As the name suggests it is a very peaceful place to be, along the way you will discover some history and mineral springs, birdlife, enjoy the views of the lake up close and faraway. Before, during or after your walk you can enjoy the view and browse the books at the 'BookBarn'.
Mount Franklin is an extinct volcano that is excellent for bushwalking and having a picnic . The walk into the crater is about two kilometres and takes about 30 minutes one way. You can also drive in. From the rim of the volcano there is an excellent view of the surrounding area.
