American comfort food, nice bar, outdoor patio with live music under the lights with large comfy outdoor sofas, carnival lights. Music inside if the weather is rough. You must try their unique coleslaw (blue cheese and unforgettable). Their “Ugly Dawg” is a hot dog (duh) and its huge. They have soups, appetizers, entrees, and the best Burgers and sandwiches, Philly Cheese steaks…and more. On NC 107 just past the Corners to the next red-light (yes we have TWO red-lights!).

American comfort food, nice bar, outdoor patio with live music under the lights with large comfy outdoor sofas, carnival lights. Music inside if the weather is rough. You must try their unique coleslaw (blue cheese and unforgettable). Their “Ugly Dawg” is a hot dog (duh) and its huge. They have soups, appetizers, entrees, and the best Burgers and sandwiches, Philly Cheese steaks…and more. On NC 107 just past the Corners to the next red-light (yes we have TWO red-lights!).
My personal favorite and one of the best 10 restaurants I’ve ever enjoyed. Great dining room with a fireplace, OR covered outdoor dining often with kick butt live music and woodsy mountain views OR a cozy bar with high-tops and ditto on the music. Now the food. Best burgers and sandwiches; also upscale entrees including duck (nobody does duck right but Micas does) a wedge salad which will satisfy you for the whole meal, down home sides like collards, fried okra and so on. Great cocktails priced at half what a city bar charges, beers domestic and brewed. Gotta go I’ve made myself hungry. Located on US 64 in Sapphire Valley about 2 minutes from The Corners. See I told you everything works off the Corners.

OK this is a classic roadhouse joint and raucous juke spot. And a Marathon gas station. And convenience store where they sell huge sausage floating in red juice of some sort, pickled eggs, beer and lots of greasy spicy food. But go there for the classic country, rock, bluegrass, local down home music. Played loud on a wood dance floor, with a tiny bar. The walls are covered with photos of great and near great, regional musicians. Want to meet locals? Christmas tree farmers? Laborers? Truck drivers? All here on any given night as well as authors, real estate tycoons, a London symphony musician, teachers. They offer wings, burgers, steak on occasion - all served up in a loud happy dance hall.

Hiking Recommendations
• High Falls – about 2 ml away, second most visited falls in NC w a fabulous trail winding down to the falls on 634 wood steps. Once you get there get your camera busy, sun on the boulders and rocks, swim in the pools and picnic. Save energy to hike back up as it is a BIG climb. You access from the road that runs on top of the dam. Park on same side as the trailhead.
• Hiking Trails - 18 world class trails within 30 min. Most end at mountain waterfalls. Trail guide on your dining room table. From ridiculously easy to ridiculous. Try Whiteside Mtn first for easy access to beautiful vistas.

• Smoky Mtns Nat'l Pk-45 min away, Free roaming elk, stunning roadway. MOST VISITED Nat'l Pk in U.S.
• Blue Ridge Parkway-30 min from cabin. U.S. 2nd MOST visited nat'l pk.
• Asheville - One hour away…take the Blue Ridge Parkway for an extra nice trip. Pottery center of US; Art District; Biltmore Castle.
• Town of Highlands - Disney does a mtn town, charming picturesque world famous w deluxe shopping, restaurants w 5 star ratings, unique architecture, cute main street.
• Gatlinburg and Dollywood about an hour away.
