This is a must for all visitors to Vieques! Fun for the entire family! Reservations are required, and there are several tour operators running nightly tours. Most tours go out using ocean kayaks/canoes, some are clear or glass bottom. There is also a company that goes out using an electric powered boat for those that are not as adventuring, elderly or those with mobility issues, and families with small children.

Public Transportation

Taxis and Publicos (large passenger vans) are available at both the ferry terminal and airport, Uber does not yet exist in Vieques. We do strongly suggest that you book a taxi in advance to your arrival, as there are a limited number available. We suggest to book at least a day or two in advance. Publicos are similar to taxis, and do meet all incoming ferries. Cost wise, they are about the same. If you opt to use publicos from the ferry, we suggest that you do not wait to be the last one off the ferry, as once the publicos fill up and depart, they do not return until the next ferry.

Ferry Tickets

We strongly suggest booking your ferry tickets as soon as they are available, as they do sell out online quickly. Though tickets may be available at the ticket window in Ceiba, they usually do not go on sale until one hour prior to a departure, so best to book online in advance or as early as possible at: Do keep in mind that during the High Season (December to Easter), it is very busy and ferry tickets may be difficult to get ahold of. Same is true for holiday weekends. So again, we suggest purchasing your tickets in advance and do not wait until last minute.
