Flaming Gorge is a beautiful man-made reservoir that straddles the Utah-Wyoming border. There are numerous beaches and places to launch a boat, the closest being Little Firehole. If you just want the scenic tour, you can take a nice 3 hour drive and enjoy the many lookouts and stopping points. Highly recommend taking the dam tour at the visitors center if you have time.

About 10 miles north of Rock Springs you'll turn on CR 4-18. From here follow the signs for the Petroglyphs. They are about 15 miles out on a gravel road. 4-wheel drive recommended. From the parking lot, it's a short 1/4 mile hike to the 300 foot cliff canvas of ancient Native American carvings. If you continue past the turnoff for the Petroglyphs you will come across Boars Tusk approximately 4 miles down the road. This landmark is the core of an ancient volcano that rises straight out of the ground. It's a popular spot for photographers and youngsters who like to scramble up the rocky terrain.
