Walks

A horse drawn tram line that has long fallen into disuse carried iron from Blaenavon to the canal wharfs of the Usk canal. It circumnavigates a large part of this hill and is firm underfoot. A circular walk from keepers pond takes in the most southerly cirque or cwm ( start of a glacier) from the last ice age. This is now marked by the Punch Bowl pond, a lovely spot.

Flat walks when the weather is inclement or for an easy stroll. There are lock flights near Llangynidyr or walks passing disused lime kilns near Crickhowell. Talybont to Crickhowell is a good step.

Seen from the orchard, a lovely walk up the “holy mountain”. The rift in the hill was reputably made when Christ was crucified
