Nice place to visit locally. Has a few quirky shops but would mainly recommend for a walk along the canal and then a bite to eat. A favourite of mine is parking in the station car park and walking through the park and along the canal to the cross guns at Avoncliffe. Dog friendly nice food and a nice walk roughly 30 minutes there and 30 minutes back mainly flat.

Lacock Abbey is where some of Harry Potter was filmed alongside a number of other movies. It is a historic village which has been left looking historic and is looked after by the National Trust. Worth a visit

If you don’t want to pay the cost of Stonehenge and want to get a bit closer to the stones then Avebury is a great place to visit. Taken from the national trust website “At Avebury you can wander among the standing stones of the largest stone circle in the world and marvel at the human ingenuity and dedication it took to create the enormous bank and ditch with no more than bones and stones.”

Located just 5 minutes walk from the flat in the village is a lovely national trust garden which is worth a stroll around. Entrance is free for National Trust members and £5 for adults. The garden is open from 11-5:30 everyday except Wednesday. It is opposite the shop slightly to the right if you have your back to the village shop (holt super store.)
