Best to go by car - really cool park that many people never think to go to. It's on the other side of town so can take a bit of time to get there but great place for a picnic.

Rock Creek Park runs through NW DC from Georgetown up to Maryland. Enjoy miles of trails, the creek, numerous picnic sites, etc. A great day to spend a peaceful day in Washington, D.C.
