Boranup Forest . Drive toward Augusta along caves Rd. A massive fire in the summer of 2021 scorched much of the forest. The Forest had not been cleaned regularly with managed burns. Traditional aboriginal caring for country burns had not been practiced. When someone lit a fire in the forest at Mammoth cave it took off and it burned most of the forest and including the wetlands of Nindup plain which supply many of the caves in the area.
