Lake Temagami has 3000 miles of shoreline, 1200 islands and with the exception of the small town of Temagami located at the top of the North East arm of the lake, there is no other shoreline development on Lake Temagami. The lake is bordered by a shoreline reserve, meaning all of the shoreline is crown land and you are free to explore it. The only cottages or other developments you will find are on the many islands that dot the lake. There are a couple of excellent day use beaches that you can boat up to and enjoy, as well as many uninhabited islands with campsites or picnic areas, perfect for a shore lunch of freshly caught fish!
Fishing is fantastic in Lake Temagami and in the many surrounding smaller lakes. Anglers will be rewarded with lake trout, small mouth bass, walleye (pickerel), pike, whitefish and splake. Some of the smaller lakes and streams have speckled trout, brook and rainbow trout. Canadian residents require an OUtdoors Card and a Resident Seasonal License or a Conservation License. Non-resident licenses are available for the season, 7 days or 1 day and may be purchased as a conservation license with lower catch and possession limits. We encourage all visitors to assist in protecting our resources for the use and enjoyment of future generations. Please catch and release or practice minimum harvest.
Numerous hiking trails are accesible on the Lake and in the town of Temagami. The White Bear Forest is an accessible stand of an old growth forest ecosystem that is in excess of 3000 years old! It is located within the municipality of Temagami and worth visiting if you like hiking. The forest is named after the White Bear family who used this land for their hunting grounds.
Wildlife viewing opportunities include the majestic moose, black bear and the elusive wolf and occasional deer. Some of the smaller animals you may see include the beaver, red fox, lynx, fisher and pine marten. Loons, blue herons, ducks and ruffed grouse are quite common. Bald eagle, peregrine falcon and the orange crested warbler are often heard but can be difficult to locate.
Our place is the perfect location to pursue whatever outdoor activities you might enjoy: fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, hunting, snowmobiling and ice fishing, or simply relaxing surrounded by nature.
