“Well-done museum. US history told through the perspective of Marines. You can even be assigned the story of a real soldier, and "walk in their shoes" through the exhibits. ”

“Pyrite Mine Trail Loop (PMTL) is a 7.6 mile lightly trafficked cluster of trails that together make up the "loop". There are other trails that shoot off of the loop for challenges and distance challenges. It features historical placards, waterfall, shade and is good for all skill levels, even if you are restarting after an injury. Definitely stop at the Visitor Center which is 1/4 mile from entrance, for detailed trail map. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year round. You can bring an inner tube and float away on the river (nice and slow). National Park opens at 9A with a cost of $10/car or $7 bike or walking into park.”

“A large park next to the Rappahannock River, its one of the best places to swim in the summer. For safety, don't swim there when the water is high.”

“A great little park right near the heart of downtown, there is a great (and long) trail along the stream that is not too difficult but really beautiful, with lots of access points to small beaches on the stream if you want a dunk. ”

“This family-friendly park has both sun and plentiful shade. There are two separate playground areas, tennis courts, basketball hoops, picnic tables, and fenced-in, dog-friendly open areas. Situated a short distance from historic Kenmore, former residence of Betty Washington Lewis and her husband, patriot Fielding Lewis.”
