Mountain
“There are 7 well marked paths upSnowdon and I would recommend Rhydd Du from the west side. It is by far the quietest route and the views towards the coast as you descend are incredible. Pick your day to climb Snowdon carefully as can be quite treacherous even at times in summer. Please ask for advice on routes and places to park as gets very busy on the LLanberis side.”

“We opened our Caffi on the 1st of April 2014 with the intention to serve fresh coffee fruit and herbal teas in comfortable and interesting surroundings. Our lunch menu is fresh and as local as can be, serving local mussels ( in season ) welsh lamb ciabattas ,homemade fish cakes freshly filled baguettes and baked potatoes to more substantial homemade lasagne, Home baked ham with eggs, chefs Chicken Korma, homemade faggots over creamed mash and mint gravy. All can be served alfresco if the weather permits on our river terrace. During the afternoon our cream teas are proving to be a great success with home made bara brith, Victoria sponge, coffee and walnut and carrot cake being the favourites”

“The nearest Snowdon path from Tanycastell, some 20 minutes drive. A shorter route but more strenuous. Limited car parking facilities available so arrive early or opt for the park and ride in Nant Peris, the other side of Pen y Path. Stop at Pen y Gwryd on the way - the hotel served as a place of stay for |Tensing and Hillary before their sumit of Everst. Full of related and mountain memorabilia.”

“A walkers paradise in the foothills of Snowdon. Quite easy to get to from Pistyll on the back roads using your Sat Nav. Small town in picturesque location and the river walks is one of my favourites and quite narrow and close to fast flowing river at times. Be careful walking in flood waters.”

Point of Interest
“In the 13th century, Llywelyn, prince of North Wales, had a palace at Beddgelert. One day he went hunting without Gelert "the faithful hound" who was unaccountably absent. On Llywelyn's return, the truant stained and smeared with blood, joyfully sprang to meet his master. The prince alarmed hastened to find his son, and saw the infant's cot empty, the bedclothes and floor covered with blood. The frantic father plunged the sword into the hound's side thinking it had killed his heir. The dog's dying yell was answered by a child's cry. Llywelyn searched and discovered his boy unharmed but near by lay the body of a mighty wolf which Gelert had slain, the prince filled with remorse is said never to have smiled again. He buried Gelert here. The spot is called Beddgelert. ”

“A converted chapel which still has the pulpit in situ! A huge warming wood burner on those few days that turn out wet and windy!! The brunch menu is quirky and delicious coffee is from a local roastery. Also many Gluten free options. Great cakes for those with a sweet tooth amongst you. We have done some research for you in this department. ”
