Scenic Lookout
“You should definitely take the time to drive the Washington Park Loop Road. There are nice places to pull off the road and take in the sights. On the west side is a nice picnic spot with grass and tables. This is the best place on Fidalgo Island to possibly see whales from land! The trails are also very nice, if you have the time.”

“This is one stop I always take my out of state visitors. The views are just awesome and its fun to walk across the bridge, lots of photo ops for free! Its always nice to go under the bridge and walk along some of the trails, its a nice quiet place to be. I go there on my own as well for that reason. Its all just very pretty and calming, who doesn't need that?!”

“If you happen to be in the area in April, Roozengaarde is the spot to go! They have a beautiful tulip garden, but also fields of tulips as far as the eye can see. Google "Skagit Valley Tulip Festival" to learn more details and confirm the dates. A bit of a local secret is to go in late March. While the tulips won't be out yet, you'll get beautiful views of the daffodils, free packing, and the best part--no crowds!”

“You drive to the top of Mt Erie and enjoy some of the spectacular views over the San Juan Islands, Whidbey Island, and the Cascade Mountain range. If you are comfortable walking on uneven surfaces then I recommend following the climber's trails down the south and west side, just down the hill from the main parking lot. The views of the San Juans are spectacular from here!”

“Fragrance Lake is part of Larrabee State Park, which became Washington’s first state park after a 20-acre parcel of land was donated by the Larrabee family in 1915. The park now accounts for a third of the Chuckanut Recreation Area’s 8,000 acres of public land. The Fragrance Lake trailhead is on Chuckanut Drive, directly across from the main entrance to Larrabee State Park. You’ll find a small parking area to the left just past the ranger station, or, if space is available, there are a dozen parking spots on the east side of Chuckanut Drive. A Discover Pass is required in either lot. A pass kiosk, water and flush toilets are available in the park.”

“Walk the one mile trail out to Sare's Head for a gorgeous view of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. You won't likely see too many people out there. The trails around the forestland are also wonderful.”
