Nature
“An old railroad bridge across the Hudson River was saved by a hard working group of people and transformed into a walkway for people! It is a spectacular structure to see and even more spectacular to walk across! It connects the Dutchess Rail Trail system with the Ulster County Rail Trail system. ”

Bus Station
“What's great about having Poughkeepsie as our nearest station is that you can get here via Amtrak from Penn Station in NYC, but we're also the last stop on the Metro-North Hudson line trains out of Grand Central, which are far more reasonably priced. Look for the island with the castle on it near Fishkill. It was built by a man who started a salvage company for Civil War munitions and explosives, but the town wouldn't let him build a warehouse because they were afraid his stock would explode. So he built the castle on an island and painted a large advertisement facing the train. The town was right--his stuff exploded one day rather spectacularly, making the castle a romantic ruin. ”

“This historic theater and performance complex has operated since 1926. Currently consists of four rooms: The Chance is the main floor primary concert hall; The Loft is an intimate upstairs venue; The Platinum Lounge is a downstairs nightclub and bar; and The Nuddy Irishmen, a downstairs cafe/bar. Many famous and local acts have performed at this venerated downtown venue, of a hugely diverse scope—including The Police, The Ramones, Muddy Waters, Davod Bowie, Pete Seeger, and dozens of others. ”
