“This the most beautiful cafe in Porto. Actually, it’s on the Top 10 of the most beautiful cafes in the world. It dates back to 1921 under the name of Elite. It’s located on Santa Catarina Street, the main pedestrian walkway in the city. You can’t miss it. The façade is gorgeous but as you go inside your mouth opens and the sound “UAU” comes out! ”

“One of the best places to try the famous Francesinha in Porto. Get ready to wait for a long time if you get there late (be there before midday)”

“Have a coffee and read a book! Café Candelabro is a special cafe-bookshop in downtown Porto. Why so special? Because it’s cosy, artsy and you can find books on the shelves. Some of them, you can actually buy. Others you can take with you to the table and enjoy them. Most of the books are about photography and cinema. Rua da Conceição, 3 Porto (Baixa - Porto) PHONE: 966 984 250”

“Rua da Flores is certainly one of the most touristic streets in the city of Porto. It wasn’t always like this. This street, that crosses São Bento Station and São Domingos Square, was the old street of merchants and aristocrats. Crossing Rua das Flores is not always an easy task, given the amount of people entering and leaving the shops, grocery stores, and cafes, on the terraces. Until today, the street has maintained its original profile and architecture of the XVII, XVIII e XIX centuries, and this is where one of the most emblematic baroque façades of Porto can be seen, the Misericordia Church (1749-1750), rebuilt by the architect Nicolau Nasoni.”

“A place both for food and sightseeing. Reasonable prices and good food. A historical coffee shop for Porto's University students - a place for coffee and conversation; watching football matches; studying; meetings; remembering and celebrating past times as a student.”

“Café Guarany is located in Avenida dos Aliados, Porto’s main avenue. There’s no way you’ll miss it! And you shouldn’t. Honestly, I can’t say that there’s something on the menu that you really must have. The thing about this cafe is its history. A bit like Majestic Café, Guarany is one of the eldest cafes in town. It first opened its doors in January 1933. Guarany reminds us of the indians from South America and this was used as an allusion to Brazil, XX century world’s largest coffee producer. The people who went to Guarany in the 30’s where mainly musicians, writers, intellectuals and businessmen. After a renovation, Guarany reopened its doors to the city and is again a reference for those who have a creative and inquisitive mind. ”

“ANOTHER SANDWICH YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS We know, by now you are thinking that Porto only has to offer bread, cheese and meat. Sorry, but “Venham mais 5” also had to be present in this list. Its famous sandwiches are made with steak and “queijo da serra” and since it is close to Guedes you can simply have one in each place.”

“At Casa de Pasto da Palmeira, in Cantareira, snacks are on another level. 'Alheira' muffins, Rui-style eggs and smoked chicken rolls are among their best-known treats. They have a regularly updated menu and every month something new comes along, such as fried chestnuts, pork cheeks with pumpkin cevadotto or the cinnamon and sweet eggs ice cream. Will they still be on the menu when you visit? Probably not. But that's all part of the fun. Tips: – The “alheira” sausage muffins and chicken rolls are permanent fixtures but everything else changes, so if you taste something you like - order seconds! – The outdoors tables are among Foz's most coveted, even in cold weather.”
