The Heartwood Lodge is on a quiet, private-access lake 20 minutes south of Bancroft. A limestone base contributes to the clear water quality of this lake, and to preserve the beauty and peacefulness of the area, no motorized watercraft are permitted.
The lake is your domain. A short path & some steps will take you from the house to the private dock with just a short walk. The water is deep right off the dock, great for launching a kayak or canoe (2 kayaks / 1 canoe available), taking a refreshing dip in the lake or trying your hand at fishing (please contact us for more information about fishing our lake). In the evenings, enjoy sunset views across the lake from the dock.
Please note: lake access is down a moderate hill featuring 2 sets of steps & a path. This may be a challenge for those with mobility issues.
THE WOODS & WETLANDS
There are kilometres of hiking trails throughout the property. A quick walk down the trail will take you to the wetlands. Tread lightly to see waterfowl, beavers, turtles, and frogs to name a few. We request that you leave this area as you found it, the forest & wetlands are an important part of our ecosystem and is home to many animals.
The main trail will take you all the way to HWY 620. The terrain is gently sloped, and the trail is wide. You’ll find plenty of pines, spruces, cedars, birches, oaks, maples, and beech trees along the way. Explore to your heart’s content.
The Heartwood Lodge is ATV & Snowmobile friendly, and is located near many popular trails including the Hastings Heritage Trail. Please note that no indoor storage areas are available for your vehicles if you chose to bring them, however you can access trails directly from the house via the trail to the main road.
An outdoor firepit is available for use outside the cabin. Please bring your own camp firewood, which can be purchased from the nearby Trudy's Gas & Convenience, and obey posted regulations regarding fire bans (posted on the road in).
