This cozy cottage is a the perfect location to help you to get away from it all. A unique piece of history in a beautiful and relaxed seaside village; the cottage was constructed in the sixteen hundreds and has a timeless homely feel. Its only a 5 minute walk from Myrtleville beach:)
The antique stove (and central heating) provides gorgeous heat and fuel is provided for guests no matter what the season.
Stunning coastal walks are easily reached and bound to impress no matter what the weather.

Stedet
This charming gardeners cottage pre-dates Myrtleville House (which adjoins the cottage) and was built behind the sheltering walls of a 2 acre vegetable garden.
Once said to be used as a small monastery, it is a truly unique building in a gorgeous setting. As soon as the fire is lighting and the kettle is on; the worries of the modern world should start to ease away.
Over the last couple of years I have been renovating and improving every room in an effort to improve comfort while maintaining the old world charm.

The kitchen is the heart of the home, with a cosy antique wood burning stove (fuel provided). It is the kind of room that's perfect for tea drinking and long chats. The low light of candles (many provided) is the best choice if you really want a trip back in time.

We have two large double rooms upstairs and a single room downstairs.
The layout of the cottage is slightly unorthodox but it was constructed almost 400 years ago so that can be forgiven.

Out in the garden, there are hammocks and a geodesic dome which provide an excellent spot for a relaxation.

Parking is provided of course, there is lots of space and it is very safe.

Gjestetilgang
Although the cottage is attached to our own residence it has its own entrance and parking area which are quite private.
Guests are free to roam the gardens and the meadows which are full of all sorts of wildlife as well as my own beehives (which are all very mellow!).

Andre ting det er verdt å merke seg
Myrtleville beach is a two minute walk down the hill and there are a whole host of beautiful coastal walks in the area. The local Myrtleville Swimmers group brave the waters all year round as the sea temperatures in Ireland are always bearable.

Myrtleville, Cork, Irland

Myrtleville is a beach town within in a small river valley. Baile an Cuainin is its original Irish name and it means town of the little cove.

Myrtleville beach is a popular destination for day visitors from the city. Going east or west along the rocks from the beach can help you to discover secluded swimming holes and tidal pools if you're interested in a little exploration.

One thing that is often said about this place is that once here people rarely want to leave. Its just so easy to pass the day relaxing its hard to consider other options.

The local foodstore, O Connells is great for stocking almost all the groceries that you may need. It is a 5 minute walk from our door.

I always encourage visitors to take to the sea-shore, no matter what time of year it may be. There are plenty of beaches and natural swimming holes and if you want peace seclusion then you will find it there.

The Myrtleville Swimmers are a local sea swimming group who swim all year round in the atlantic. There is nothing quite like the Atlantic to wake you up in the morning! If any guests are interested in taking a plunge I can give you all of the information on swim times etc.

Foraging for wild food is very easy here with blackberries, mussels, cockles and sea-spinach in abundance at the right time of year. Just ask me where to go and what to look for and take it from there.

For night-time entertainment you wont have to go far. There's always great live music happening locally from traditional folk sessions to some hefty blues rock in The Lodge. This little local is half way to the beach and worth a stop if you're thirsty:)

A short walk from the cottage (and the Lodge if you fancy a short pub crawl!), just above the cliffs and the crashing Atlantic sits Bunnyconnellan our local restaurant where you can sit and enjoy stunning sea views. The last anchorage of the Titanic can be seen from here.

Just a 5 minute drive (or a lovely seaside walk) from Myrtleville is the fishing village of Crosshaven. Home to the oldest yacht club in the world, The Royal Cork Yacht Club, and the spectacular Fort Camden where you can get a tour of the battlements and tunnels that helped to keep the harbour safe during war times. There is couple of charming little cafes where it is very easy to while away some time over a coffee, lunch or breakfast.

You might be lucky enough to get here in time for one of our local festivals, like the crazy Red Head Convention, the Traditional Sail weekend or the annual Folk Festival.

Kinsale is also close by, 20 minutes drive and such a beautiful town with lots to do there too.

Fountainstown beach is just 15 minutes by foot (2 minutes by car) and is perfect for low-tide walks. There are many secluded swimming holes between here and there. Kids and adults alike can partake in the Funkytown Adventure Centre, where it is possible to do kayak rental and guided tours of the coastline, wake-boarding, tubing and lots more.

Anyone who gets properly ensconced in the area will be charmed by the people here, its a small town with a good community of super friendly people....especially in the pubs:)

I will certainly be present and more than willing to give my time to guests. This is a very personal service at the best of times but if my guests require time and space then they will have it in abundance in Myrtleville.

I like to sit and chat with guests when I can, give them some recommendations and share a few cups of tea.

It often happens that I might share a beer or take guests out to the local pub for a few pints and some live music. It all depends on the guest or what is going on in Myrtleville on the day.

In the past few years I have had the good fortune to be able to take some guests to beach bonfires, cliff walks, foraging tours or on kayak trips with some friends.

That's what I love about travelling and hosting with Airbnb!
