Built in 1921 on the site of an old apple orchard, West Park Gardens was originally known as the Ira Smith House. The property fills the full length of a downtown block including carport, patio, fountain, carriage house, out buildings and a treetop canopy that covers a secret garden. Take advantage of hidden niches and corners for photo opportunities, romantic conversation and peaceful contemplation.

The main house has high ceilings, large windows and hardwood floors throughout. You are encouraged to enjoy the dining room, living room, sun room and kitchen during your stay. Our unique proximity to downtown shopping and dining makes West Park Gardens truly unique in the Culpeper Airbnb community.

West Park Gardens has plenty of room for everyone. Families with pets, newlyweds, world travelers, bridal parties and mountain adventurers. West Park Gardens is a short walk to historic downtown Culpeper, one of America's Best Main Streets (2016) and Virginia's Most Underrated Town (2018). E. Davis Street is your destination for restaurants, boutique shopping, farmer's market (seasonal), concerts and street festivals. During your walk to downtown, you'll notice that the neighborhood reflects the town's rich history with beautiful homes and a peaceful retreat from busy city life. For movie buffs, the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center is the Library of Congress's audiovisual archive located in Culpeper, Virginia.

West Park Gardens is close to nearby hiking in the Shenandoah National Park, wine tasting at Virginia's finest vineyards, popular wedding venues, kayaking and canoeing at Lake Pelham and historic landmarks in Charlottesville (Monticello, University of Virginia), Richmond (state capitol) and Washington, D.C. (national capitol). Highlights include Brandy Station Battlefield (Civil War), Montpelier (James Madison), the White House, National Archives (Declaration of Independence) and the Washington Monument, to name a few.

Within 90 minutes to DC, Charlottesville and Richmond, visitors find their way to Culpeper by rail on Amtrak or rent a car from one of the nearby airports. Once here, you can get around on the trolley service, in an Uber or by car service. The occasional horse drawn wagon ferries passengers up and down E. Davis Street on special events like Remembrance Days.
