The Moorings is a delightful , cosy cottage in the quiet village of Newton on the shores of Loch Fyne. Recently renovated it has 2 bedrooms, sleeping up to 4 people, however there is a single pull out bed in the 2nd bedroom which would cater for 3 adults or 3 children, the master has a Superking bed for 2 people, all made up with lovely comfortable bedding to ensure you sleep extremely well on your holiday.

Newton is just outside Strachur, home of the famous Creggans Inn, it is a fantastic base for exploring all that Argyll has to offer. The cottage has wonderful views of Loch Fyne and the beach is less than a minutes walk from the front door. Newton also has its own jetty/pontoon, perfect for crab fishing with the kids or launching your paddle board or kayak. Wild swimming is very popular here too and there are many points of access to the beaches along the shores of the loch.

The cottage has a private back garden and there is seating and a BBQ out the front so you can enjoy the wonderful views and sunsets. There is a small but well equipped kitchen with large fridge, gas hob, double oven, microwave and a Nespresso coffee machine. The kitchen is open plan to the dining area where you can also enjoy lovely views. There is an open log fire in the living room along with a Smart TV with NOW TV and Freeview you can also watch Netflix if you bring your log in with you, there is also a selection of books and board games for cosy indoor days. Off the living room there is a passage/boot room/utility, equipped with washing machine, pulley for drying clothes and lots of hooks for hanging wet suits and coats. The shower room and loo are at the end of the passage. There is also a wc between the 2 bedrooms upstairs. Parking for 2 cars is just outside the front door.
There are some fantastic restaurants only a few miles away such as the award winning Inver and The Oyster Catcher at Otter Ferry and The Whistlefield Inn. Portavadie Marina and Spa is only 25 miles from Newton and makes for a lovely day trip, you cal also book boat trips with Fyne Sea Tours from here. Another great day out is a visit to Tighnabruich, great wee places to eat and a lovely gallery. Inveraray and Loch Fyne Oyster Bar are also within easy reach. Other great day trips to the Isles of Bute, Gigha and Mull are all super adventures for the family. There is kayak hire in Lochgoilhead and Dunoon. The Cowal Peninsula is Argyll’s Secret Coast and there are numerous hill walks and coastal walks for you to discover.
There are lots of great walks and things to do in the local area, it is 25 minutes from Inverary, 1.5 hours from Oban and Glasgow and a short drive to many places of interest. Please have a look at the things to do section on our site or look up Wild About Argyll for more inspiration. The cottage has wonderful sea views to the hills and mountains beyond, the perfect place to relax and switch off.

The North of Cowal is defined by Loch Fyne on the west and Loch Long on the east of Cowal.
It is quite distinctively rugged with a feeling of great remoteness, yet easily accessed being just over an hour from Glasgow via the scenic drive along the shores of Loch Lomond and up over the Rest-and-be-Thankful by the Arrochar Alps.
The cottage is well placed for enjoying a rural, lochside holiday, at the same time as being a relaxing and comfortable base from which to tour the scenic Cowal Peninsula, or further afield to Inveraray, Oban and Glencoe.
3 miles south of Strachur village and just off the road to the Isle of Bute ferry. 4 miles from Inver, a small, characterful restaurant on the shores of Loch Fyne.

Newton is a peaceful Loch- side village of Newton, just outside Strachur
