Why did you choose the city / state you now live in?
Beautiful, diverse natural beauty of ocean, mountains and forest. Close proximity to large cites, yet in a small community.
What do you love most about where you live?
The air, the weather, the beauty. Walking in the early morning in the fog toward the beach and the sun coming thru the clouds turning the water turquoise and the seals and sometimes even dolphins swimming in their free domain. The quaint, small town feel and aroma of the great restaurants of Carmel by the sea, oh and of course, my neighbors.
What is your favorite restaurant in your town?
Casanova Restaurant – it is what Carmel is all about – vibrant and romantic, hearty country European food, exquisite wine, love.
What is your favorite All Time Movie?
Born Free – I was a little girl the first time I saw it and I still get tears in my eyes when I hear the song. I can still play it on the piano.
Do you have any Pets?
3 Cats – all of which have showed up hungry and alone thru the greenbelt that surrounds our house. Tom Tom arrived 4 years ago, a pure bred Turkish Van who now weighs 21 lbs, (a.k.a. Tommy Drama) 3 years ago came Ollie (a skateboard term for jumping high, “getting air”) who is a fat little grey striped American shorthair how has mental issues (a.k.a. Hillbilly) and most recently to come to us in January, a young orange tabby we named Shiloh because he is still so shy (a.k.a. Baby Bengal) but wait, that’s not all, the love of my life lives at Carmel Country Inn. He is Tescher Cat. He is a 17 year old handsome Tuxedo who I adopted from the shelter when he was 5. Tescher Cat authors the blog on the Carmel Country Inn website and has more returning guest girlfriends than George Clooney. Anytime I need to feel loved, I just pick him up and he makes everything alright.
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
Putter in my garden, watch mindless tv, and honestly, go to Las Vegas and eat great food and win money!
What is your favorite season and why?
Spring – everything is green from the winter rains, the bulbs peek out from their winter slumber and the nurseries are filled with fabulous flowers.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
Purchase a ranch in nearby Carmel Valley, construct a kitty sanctuary and adopt all the unwanted kitties to live at the ranch. I’d also adopt a couple of German Sheppard’s to protect all of us.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Fly a jet – I would very much enjoy the freedom it would allow.
If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be? This will hopefully be taking place in the future:
The day when there are no longer any animals on the endangered species list.
Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?
the original Fergie (Sarah Ferguson, the duchess)
What do you love most about your Job of 16 years?
No two days are ever the same. Every day I get to meet new interesting people and their beloved pets! I feel rewarded when I help a guest plan their day or even just a meal and they come back to tell me what an amazing experience they had.
What is your Experience and Background in the Travel Industry?
Years of Restaurant, Banquet, Catering & Conference Services Management for large hotels, more Years Destination Event Management, 16 years Innkeeper at Carmel Country Inn. I have served on the board of the Carmel Innkeepers Association for the past 10 years, am also currently serving on the HID (hotel improvement district) Advisory Board for Carmel-by-the-Sea and the Carmel-by-the-Sea Marketing Coalition. I have previously served on the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau Marketing Committee.
