Fully furnished, non-smoking room in a private home, located in the quiet neighborhood of Chapparal Village. Adjacent bathroom with full bath, reserved for your personal use during your stay.

Please be aware that there are three small-medium dogs on the property. They will not have access to your room or bathroom during your stay, but they do generally have full run of the rest of the house.

Stedet
The bedroom has a queen-sized bed with bachelor's chest and closet for storage. The adjacent bathroom will be reserved for your use while you're here, so no worries about sharing the space or waiting to use it. The guest bedroom is on the opposite side of the house from the master, so you will also have your own private space whenever you need to "get away."

The house is single-story, no stairs to navigate. I do keep the front entry/guest area gated off so the dogs don't get back there, so please watch your step!

There are several common areas in the house that you are welcome to use. In the same hallway as the guest bedroom is my office/library. The room has desk and a lot of natural light if you need a relaxing space to do some work or if you're the crafty sort. You're also welcome to enjoy any of the books on the shelves, although I ask that you return them when you're done.

The living room has a Smart TV with Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ available, as well as some Playstation games and DVDs. The dogs do enjoy cuddling with whoever's on the couch though, so you may be stuck with some puppy kisses if you're out in that area!

The kitchen is also available for your use and has an oven, range, microwave, and coffee maker. I will have a shelf in the fridge set aside for your use, as well as some space in the pantry. You're welcome to use some common items such as basic spices, cooking oils, etc. If there's anything else that you'd like to use but aren't sure about please feel free to ask. I do ask that you clean up after yourselves once you're finished.

There is a washer and dryer off the kitchen, which are also available for your use. I keep some hypoallergenic laundry pods on hand in case you run out.

The house has a nice fenced yard with a patio that you can relax on. There is a fire pit in the yard for cooler nights, but I ask that you coordinate with me first prior to using it (we live in a very dry area and have a high fire risk).

Speaking of the desert, we do have some critters in the area to watch out for. You may spot some of the Arizona bark scorpions in the yard, particularly around dusk. They won't typically bother you if you leave them alone, but they do pack a very venomous punch (so please don't try to fuss with them!). Although they live outdoors, every now and then one will get lost and find its way inside. If you do happen to spot one, please let me know and I'll relocate it (they eat pests just like spiders do, so I try to avoid killing them).

There are a few gyms in the area, including a Planet Fitness. I also have some limited workout equipment at home, including a rowing machine, a hex deadlift bar with plates, and a couple medicine and slam balls.

Gjestetilgang
You will have access to a private bedroom and an adjacent (but not en-suite) guest bathroom, which will be reserved for your use during your stay.

Common areas include an office/library room with a desk, the kitchen/dining/laundry area, the living room, and the yard.

COVID-19 Precautions:
Sierra Vista (and Cochise County) has been extremely fortunate to have very few COVID-19 cases during the course of this pandemic. We're not out of the woods yet though, so there are some extra precautions that we're taking to help keep that case count low.

Masks:
Although Sierra Vista has lifted many of its restrictions, most businesses still require masks for entry. I ask that you keep your mask handy while you're staying with me and wear it if you and I happen to be in the same room; I will do the same. If we are sharing a meal, we can use social distancing/careful seating arrangements to mitigate risk while our masks are off. For long term guests, we may be able to relax this after a couple of weeks.

There has been a lot of confusion and misinformation about masks since this pandemic started. Non-surgical cloth masks are not intended to protect you from the virus; rather, they are intended to protect others. They work by minimizing or eliminating the distance that your exhaled breath can carry the virus. Masks with respirators do the exact opposite; they protect you from others, but their ports mean that you are exhaling any illnesses directly into your surroundings. For this reason, I ask that you do not use respirator-style masks while in my home.

Social distancing:
It matters. But we also almost always do it wrong, because we tend to be terrible at estimating distances and 6 feet is farther away than most of us realize. An easy trick is to remember that your wingspan from fingertip to fingertip is normally the same measurement as your height. If you're less than two arm lengths away from someone, you're probably not 6 feet apart. Unless you're a *lot* taller than I am, which is possible.

Hand washing:
Frequent hand washing is one of the most effective ways to curb the spread of several infectious diseases, including COVID-19, influenza (the flu), and norovirus (the stomach flu). I have antibacterial hand soap located by each sink in the house - please use it liberally and frequently. I will replace it if it runs out (just let me know when it's getting low).

Disinfecting:
I will regularly disinfect high-touch areas during your stay. These areas include but are not limited to: the front door knob (inside and outside), the washer and dryer surfaces, all handles/knobs on the kitchen cabinets, the kitchen sink faucet/handle, the fridge handle, the microwave and stove handles and knobs, and the patio door handle. I encourage you to make use of the hand sanitizer that I keep by the kitchen sink as well.

A note about hand washing, hand sanitizer, and the desert:
It is dry here. Very, very dry. Please protect your skin by using a good quality hand cream or lotion in order to prevent cracking skin on your fingers.

Non-COVID notes:
Three small-medium dogs do share the space. They will not have access to your bedroom or bathroom during your stay (or the shared office space), but they do generally have free run in the rest of the house.

Two of the three will end up in your lap if you let them; the third is very shy of new people and takes some warming up (but he is happy to sneak up for a quiet sniff inspection or to take some treats).

We're located in the high desert, and we have an incredible variety of wildlife here. Bark scorpions are common (and highly venemous, so please don't touch them), and you may also see rattlesnakes, roadrunners, and coyote in the local area. Sometimes you'll spot javelinas around town, and up in the mountains you could come across our local deer or even black bears. Rumor has it there are mountain lions and tarantulas out here too, but I've yet to spot any (for which I'm thankful).

Beliggenhet

Sierra Vista, Arizona, USA

The neighborhood is fairly quiet. There is a small grassy park out front and sidewalks throughout the neighborhood for walking.

There are also some running/biking paths nearby, but one of my favorite things about this area is the amount of hiking trails available. There are trails for all levels of difficulty both here and up in the Tucson area if you'd like to get out and about during your visit.

I live on the property and can easily be reached by phone while I'm working during the day.

I understand that everyone has a different comfort level when it comes to host-guest interaction, so don't feel obligated to "hang out" if that's not your thing. That said, I'm around to talk about the area, enjoy a home-cooked meal, or show you some of the good hiking spots around the area if you want. Just let me know!
