In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic we have updated our cleaning procedures to include the following:
- All cleaning staff must wear protective gear while cleaning (face mask, shoe covers and protective gloves).
- Each room is ventilated before cleaning (opening outside doors and windows and using ventilating fans to increase air circulation).
- We thoroughly clean then disinfect using a hospital grade disinfectant on all touch points, including door knobs, remote controls, and bicycles.
-All soft surface are being and sanitized via either laundering on the highest possible temperature setting or disinfectant spray.

The Highlands is an area in Louisville, Kentucky which contains a high density of nightclubs, eclectic businesses, and many upscale and fast food restaurants. It is centered along a three-mile stretch of Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue (US 31E/US 150) and is so named because it sits atop a ridge between the middle and south forks of Beargrass Creek. Due to its large collection of night clubs and restaurants, it is locally known as "Restaurant Row."
The Highlands was the last area near downtown Louisville to be urbanized, since its steep 60 foot incline above the flood plain made travel difficult, and the area showed no signs of urban development until just before the Civil War. Several notable families did own plantations in what is now called the Highlands, spurred by the Louisville and Bardstown Turnpike (today's Bardstown Road). The turnpike was first planned as early as 1784, but authorization to begin construction was delayed until 1819, and thwarted then by the Panic of 1819. Funds were finally allocated in 1829, with construction beginning in 1832.

We are Sarah and Ben, owners of Bed and Bike and Parkside Bikes, both local businesses in Louisville Kentucky. When we aren't busy running our two businesses we love to bike, have outdoor adventures with our two kids, and travel! Traveling has always been important to us and it was our love for travel that led us to open Bed and Bike. While traveling we started to become more and more aware of what we found made an experience unforgettable. Forming relationships, feeling like wherever you may be staying during your travel truly care about the quality of your stay, having a guidebook and curated list of must-see places. All of these things we have worked hard to incorporate into Bed and Bike. Now that we are parents we have new perspective on travel and different ideas on what makes and experience outstanding. So whether you are traveling solo, with a significant other of with the entire family we are here to make your stay in Louisville one you will never forget.
