The Old Britannia is a unique & historical pub built in 1890. It is steeped in history including a Royal visit in 1920 by the Prince of Wales - Edward VIII , who became King in 1936. The Hotel was originally called “The Britannia” by owner and builder Mr John Campbell. The Hotel was relocated in 1927 from near the railway station - By bullock and dray to its current site in Patrick st. This site prior to Hotel was a pig sale yard.
It has seen numerous floods over many years and stood its ground
