Due to Dunmore East's inclusion in Waterford City Rent Pressure Zone, we can only offer this property for a minimum of 14 nights.

This wonderful house in the perfect setting is suited to family holidays (& max 4 adults). Please read reviews. The spacious yet cosy detached home is situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. A few mins walk leads you to the beaches & fishing village/harbour. Stunning cliff walks, wooded walks, parks, playground, tennis, great food & pretty coves all close by.

Park the car and forget about it during your stay! Everything you need can be reached by foot. You will feel at home as soon as you walk through the front door.

The house is on a secluded, quiet road of 6 houses. You can take a shortcut to the village via the secret steps to the Haven Hotel in front of our house. The house is not overlooked, but offers views on the garden, woods and sea. The house is warm in the winter (with central heating) and in the summer feels airy and cool.

We love cooking so will you find every utensil, pot and appliance to make cooking at home a joy. The Lemon Tree sell home cooked meals for eating at home. Azzurro (@ 200m) sell takeaway pizza. East Pier on the harbour sell fresh fish & chips.

The house has been updated in the last 2 years to make it even more comfortable. The kids will enjoy the board games and the DVDs if it rains. After a swim or a walk on the beach, try a plate of fresh calamari or seafood chowder at the Stand, which is right on the beach and boasts a large outdoor terrace.

Waterford , County Waterford, Irland

Life is wonderful in Dunmore East: there's lots to do & lovely places to eat and drink. It was recently the location for the BBC series Redwater because it is so picturesque....
Sandy beaches & pretty coves for swimming and discovering rock pools to the front of the house.
Wooded walks & a nature trail to the back of the house.
A stunning cliff walk which has just been extended to start at the harbour and leads you all the way to Portally Cove Beach.
A picturesque village with thatched roof houses, restaurants, bars and a harbour.

Restaurants: Dine at Azurro (2 minute walk), The Lemon Tree (at the end of the wooded walk), the new East Pier (by the harbour), O’Sheas Fish & Chips and The Strand (by the beach). Cafes in the village.

Bars: many with outdoor areas. The nearest is the Haven Hotel where you can have a drink on their terrace overlooking the sea & Hook Head. A further walk out of the village will take you to Aggie Hayes' Bar - this bar has a history nearly as colourful as its exterior. Set on a hill next to a ruined church from AD700, this bright yellow, thatched roof establishment has been owned and run by the same family for 300 three hundred years. There is often traditional Irish music live in the bar. You won't want to leave!

The freshest fish sold from two fish shops, supplied by the working harbour.

There is a Sailing Club & Adventure Centre with lots of activities. The Adventure Center has the only wibit Aqua Park in Ireland. It also offers kayaking, sailing, caving, climbing, archery etc. For kids and adults in season and it needs to be booked in advance!

There is also a golf course in Dunmore, again with amazing views and a restaurant and kids play area.
Or take a spin to Faithlegg House Hotel for fantastic golf.

Enjoy the playground & tennis courts on the sea front. Browse the art exhibitions at The Strand or do an art course with ArtForm. Browse local crafts at Breakwater Gift Shop. Visit the gorgeous library at Fisherman’s Hall.

Take a trip on a fishing boat and learn how to catch a mackerel. I have the phone number of the contact here if you would like to try this. Just ask me. It's brilliant!

Tramore is a quick drive away and known for its wide sandy beaches and surfing schools, skate board park, award winning Inclusion Playground, Amusement Park (in season). We love the Japanese Gardens in Tramore.
In Seagull Bakery, bring home a sourdough loaf and try the hazelnut choc croissants!

The recently opened Beach House restaurant looks great and the reviews are excellent.

On Instagram I just read about Sea Brew Coffee. If you visit Guillamene Cove in Tramore for a dip you can enjoy a drink & snack from Sea Brew Coffee at Newtown Cove.
Look out for the Unbeetable Food Truck for healthy lunches.
And for a coffee / drink with a view, visit the recently opened One Waterfront - also in Tramore.

By car or bus you can easily get to either Waterford in 20 minutes. We stop at Ardkeen on the way in to stock up on gourmet items at Ardkeen Store and the necessities at Lidl/ Aldi. Just behind the Ardkeen Shopping Centre is Grow GIY cafe. We love this place for breakfast & lunch. All locally sourced, organic food. Lovely little gift shop too.

In Waterford City we like Momos for lunch and the new Everetts for dinner.
Other good cafes include The Parlour Vintage Tearooms, The Larder (sells the Seagull Bakery bread), The Arch & Blackfriars.

For something special, the early bird menu at Everetts (until 6pm) is good value for excellent quality. We highly recommend a visit to this new restaurant which is stunning the critics.

The Viking Virtual Reality Experience in Waterford City is unmissable.

If you are looking for a bar in Waterford, we like
or Geoff's for a lively atmosphere and the front bar in the Parlour Vintage Tearooms.

A shortcut to Wexford: We really recommend a day trip of taking the scenic car ferry from Passage East in Waterford (15 mins drive) to Arthurstown in Wexford to access the world's oldest still operating lighthouse at Hook Head (where there is also a nice cafe & shop).

Drop into the home of chef Kevin Dundun at Dunbrody House which is near Arthurstown. Have a quick lunch in 'The Local Pub' on the grounds where you can indulge in delicious beer-battered Fish & Chips, crispy stone-oven baked pizzas, Gourmet Burgers...best washed down from a selection of ice-cold beers, local gins, artisan cider or organic wine.
Or sample the Champagne Seafood Bar Terrace which can be enjoyed on the sunny garden terrace or inside by the fireside.

Visit the scary and impressive historic Loftus Hall (on the way to Hook Head) for a tour that you won't forget!

Bring your swimmers and explore the fine beaches in the area (don't miss the stunning Baginbun Beach for a swim!).

Tintern Abbey is worth a mention if you like history. A lovely place to visit.

Getting around
Day trips in the car:
A 15-20 minute drive to Waterford City and al that it has to offer
A 15 minute drive to Ardkeen gourmet supermarket & the organic Grow Cafe nearby.
A 10 minute drive to Passage East car ferry
A 15 minute dive to Tramore

The Waterford Greenway
Greenways are inspiring a whole new wave of casual cyclists. The Waterford Greenway (also known as Déise Greenway) was formerly a railway line that has been repurposed into 46 kilometres or 28.6 miles of butter-smooth paved roads. As Ireland’s longest greenway, it stretches from the ancient city of Waterford to Dungarvan across 11 bridges, 3 viaducts, and a 400-meter tunnel. If you do make it to Dungarvan, don't miss The Tannery for dinner or 'And Chips' for lunch!
