You'll love our clean & cozy historic cottage right on the waterfront of Hamlin Lake. Book weekly, Jun-Aug, Sat.-to Sat., or a 3-day min. May, Sept, & Oct. Sleeps 6-7, w/3 bdrms, open kitchen/living area, & full bath w/ shower. We're part of Vacation Lane, a friendly & welcoming summer cottage community. You'll enjoy swimming, water sports, BBQs, campfires, & relaxing outdoors on the property. 2 kayaks are provided for the Robin! Dock your boat (18-ft limit) at our marina for a $50-$100ch.

Vacation Lane is a unique, step-back-in-time "resort" community of housekeeping cottages. There is a large area of shared, common property where your kids can run free on the grounds of our camp-like property. Relax and pitch horseshoes & corn hole, play volleyball, watch the kids play on the small playground, and swim and play at the sandy beach area. In the evenings roast marshmallows at the campfire and watch a sunset over the lake. Lawn games and beach toys are kept on the Robin porch for our renters to use. Enjoy our recreation building called, The Gathering Place with a ping-pong table, Foosball, and places to sit and play cards, board games or do puzzles on rainy days. Enjoy the view of the lake from Robin porch, the Vacation Lane docks, or from one of the cozy sitting spots to relax on the property. Have fun with the 2 kayaks provided with the Robin cottage, or bring your own watercraft (18-ft. limit) to dock at our small marina. ($50-$100 charge per week.)

The Robin cottage is the other half of a duplex cottage: the Robin and Cardinal unit. My husband and I use the Cardinal side in the summer, and we love it! Our cottage was originally built in the 1930s. It is the original cabin on Vacation Lane, and the closest one to the lake. It's a great place for families and friends to gather for some summer fun. The Co-op rules state that after 10 PM, it is quiet time, so this is not a party place, but we welcome your daytime guests.

You can rent by the week, Sat.-Sat. June through August, and with a 3-night minimum in May, September, and October. Other cottages on the Vacation Lane property may be available to rent during the summer at the same time to accommodate your friends and family requiring more lodging. Let us know if you'd like to inquire about these. We can help to coordinate this. Renters are not allowed to bring pets, sorry.

Ludington, Michigan, USA

Vacation Lane is friendly resort community of independently-owned summer cottages on beautiful Hamlin Lake. Just 2 doors down there are boat rentals and a small bait, tackle, and snacks store. If you bring your own boat, you can launch it right across the street, at South Bayou Park, go under 2 little bridges, and you'll find yourself out on the huge Hamlin Lake. You can dock your boat at our marina for a $50 a week fee, (with prior notice) and park your boat trailer on the property. The fishing is good on the lake, and also on the 3 bayous off of Hamlin.

There are so many things to do in the summer in the area! Ludington State Park is right across the lake by boat, or 6 minutes down the street by car. The park offers a beautiful beach along the pristine shoreline of Lake Michigan, a light house, sand dunes, hiking trails, fishing, and kayaking, paddle board & canoe rentals. It's worth it to buy the season pass for your car, which is honored at all Michigan State Parks all year.

Ludington is a beach-resort town with lots of shops, art, restaurants, and music. The best ice cream is found at The (famous) House of Flavors on Ludington Ave, and soft-serve is BR Scoops right down the street. Our favorite breakfast and lunch place is Chef John's Bakery & Cafe on W Filer St. All dishes are fresh and wholesome! The most authentic Italian pizza is at Luciano's right downtown. If you prefer a more Americanized style with a thick crust and generous toppings, the Chuck Wagon on Lakeshore Drive is the place to go. We can't wait to try to new Stix Restaurant, right down the road at the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Rt. 116. It's opening up for Summer 2021. A really nice dinner with a view of the Ludington Marina can be had at the Crown & Cork (formerly P.M. Steamers) on W Loomis Street with a view of the harbor.

You'll love the walk out to the light house on the 1/2-mile long pier at Stearn's Park! Be sure to catch sight of the huge car ferry steamer, the S.S. Badger as it arrives or departs the Port of Ludington, and watch a Lake Michigan sunset on one of the beaches. It's a real treat.

The Maritime Museum on South Lakeshore Drive is a great rainy day activity. There is also the Children's Museum on Ludington Avenue just for the kids. The Historic White Pine Village in nearby Pere Marquette township is a longer fun outing. The reconstructed village gives you a good feel for the history, economy, and daily life of the area in the 1800s.

You can charter a fishing boat on Lake Michigan, or rent a boat and jet skis at Hamlin Lake 2 doors up from us at the Waterside Resort and Boat Rental. Literature about the activities in the area will be in the cottage for you to peruse.

In the off-season, (May, September, and October) it is very quiet and cool, so if you prefer a slower paced week, without crowds, that's a good option. The cottage is not winterized, but it is heated and supplied with blankets.

For groceries and other supplies there are various cool stores and markets, near the downtown on Ludington Avenue. Northside Market is at 6388 E Bryant Rd. Lower Hamlin Grocery is at 3611 N Jebavy Dr. For bigger chain stores, including Walmart, Meijer, Home Depot, Lowes, and Aldi continue south, on Ludington Avenue, past downtown, on Route 10.

Lover of tennis, my family, nature, vegetable gardening, and my pets. (Although it is a coop rule that renting guests may not bring pets, our chocolate lab, Junie is allowed with us and she loves attention from our renters!) Our winter home is in Kalamazoo, MI. My husband and I purchased the Robin & Cardinal duplex cottages in 2018. We're enjoying boating and Kayaking on Hamlin Lake, hiking in the state park, and going to beaches in Ludington. We are loving, summer life on Vacation Lane!
