Forge Creek, Victoria, Australia

Some notable places worth visiting around the venue,

Masons Bay- 10 mins walk from the accommodation is Masons Bay, a beautiful aspect of the Gippsland Lakes and Lake Victoria. This sandy shelly beach is shallow enough for children of all ages to enjoy a paddle in the water (under adult supervision).
Paynesville/Raymond Island – 15 minutes by car from the venue is nestled the little lakeside town of Paynesville, some local attractions include;

McMillian Strait, the stretch of water between the mainland and Raymond Island is an impressive place to sit and watch the tides move, also a good place to try to spot the local Burrunan Dolphins (indigenous to the lakes), wonder amongst the impressive yachts and wine bars and coffee shops..
For those feeling adventurous the water ferry takes passengers (pedestrians & bike riders free) over to Raymond Island, one of the best places in Victoria to see kangaroos, echidnas and koalas in the wild.

“Alma’s restaurant” in Paynesville is also a great place for dinner!

Gippsland Lakes – Why not use your stay at Lakewood as a base to explore the nearby Gippsland Lakes National Park? There are a number of national park areas within a 30-minute drive of the venue although the best exploring is obviously by boat, there are charters and boat hires available in Paynesville.

90 Mile Beach – 40 minutes’ drive from Lakewood is Lakes entrance and its access to the 90 Mile Beach, a 90 mile stretch of sand separating Gippsland Lakes from the rest of the ocean.
