Nestled among a cluster of cabins in the heart of the rockies, Kingmik Chalet is a gateway to explore 6 National Parks; only 28kms from Golden, BC and a stones throw to the western gates of Yoho National Park. Watch the sun rise over Chancellor Peaks with a coffee from the front deck, roast marshmallows under the stars on the outdoor fire pit, or cozy up in front of the river rock fireplace with BC wine or local craft beer. We're certain you'll fall in love and want to stay more than once.

Stedet
Our rustic 1000 sqft log timber chalet, with private deck and over hanging eaves sleeps up to 6 guests; perfect for a romantic getaway for couples, or great to share with friends and family. The main floor includes a full bathroom with shower, open concept living/dinning area, gorgeous river rock propane fireplace, and private bedroom with a queen bed, dresser and desk. In the loft, you'll find a half bath and open tub, 2 twin beds and a queen bed. The front of the Chalet looks out towards the towering Chancellor Peaks and is a few minutes walk to the Kicking Horse River. A propane grill and outdoor seating is located on the deck. Just in front of the Chalet is an outdoor fire pit. The Chalet has decent wifi, and close proximity to parking so you don't have to drag your luggage too far.
Beds are dressed with soft cotton linens, duvets and plenty of extra blankets and towels for everyone. We've also added a few extra touches to make our Chalet feel extra cozy; your home away from home.

Gjestetilgang
Guests will have the entire chalet to themselves with access to all rooms, except for a small locked crawl space were we keep extra supplies.

Andre ting det er verdt å merke seg
We do allow dogs to stay in our Chalet, however please let us know before you book as we do charge a small pet fee per dog.

Beliggenhet

Golden, British Columbia, Canada

The area is a hub for mountain and outdoor enthusiasts. Golden, BC and surrounding area (Yoho, Banff, Kootenay, Jasper, Glacier and Revelstoke National Parks) not only boasts a wide variety of unique experiences, but also is known locally for its amazing dining - see our top picks in our guide book. The popular Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is accessed from the town of Golden BC and is home to our resident Grizzly Bear - Boo, and offers downhill mountain biking and hiking, as well as the Eagles Eye restaurant, Canadas highest elevated dinning experience at 7,700ft perched atop the mountain.
Raft the Kicking Horse River, hike the National Parks - there are sooo many options from beginner to advanced, visit the impressive Takakkaw Falls, standing 373 meters tall - the 2nd largest waterfall in Canada, fish the Columbia River or go for a stand up paddle, canoe, horseback ride, skydive, paraglide, ATV tour, zip lining, climbing/Via Ferrata - the experiences are endless - you'll never want to leave! Make sure to check out the Burgess Shale fossil-bearing deposit exposed in the Canadian Rockies, most often visited by guided hike departing from Yoho National Park. It is famous for its exceptional preservation of the soft parts of its fossils. At 508 million years old, they are way older than dinosaurs, and our ancestry can be traced back to these diverse ocean creatures. Book yourself in for a guided hike and while you're at it sign up for a visit to Lake O'hara, a hidden gem of hanging valleys and jewel-blue lakes, as reservations are required. The places to explore and things to experience in the area are abundant.

I moved from Ontario to Emerald Lake Lodge in 1998 after finishing up my university degree to work a summer job and explore the area. After a few hours hiking around Emerald Lake I knew immediately I never wanted to leave. Not interested in joining the Toronto Bloor and Young Street- briefcase rat race, I put down roots and my summer job quickly turned into a choose your own adventure book. Fast forward 21 years, I'm still in the valley, living with my husband, our 3 boys aged 15 years and under and our dog Timber. I love, like really love, a fabulously good latte, awesome flavourful food and wine, and being in the outdoors surrounded by nature - and fortunately for me - Golden and surrounding area checks all those boxes! I spend my free time horseback riding, camping, gardening and taking pictures of the unique experiences and stunning views the area has to offer. I'm truly excited to host folks from around the world in this little gem of a Chalet, nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and show others how the locals in this part of the world live. If you ask me, it really is the best life and I'm certain you'll love where we live too!
