The Old Post Office is a fabulous old property in the heart of the lovely Exe estuary village of Starcross.
The property is approximately 200 years old and was first listed as a post office in 1839.
It’s a grade 2 listed property running alongside Brunels marvellous railway which runs through Starcross.
Maximum of 4 adults or family consisting 2 adults and 2 children. A third child can be accommodated at an extra cost of £10 per night.

Stedet
The ground floor of the property is able to be self contained and a wonderful place to stay and explore Devon.
We are situated directly opposite the station which is the main line for London to Penzance, you can use the railway to travel to nearby Exeter or seaside towns such as Dawlish, Teignmouth and of course The English riviera town of Torquay.
There is a ferry which operates from the pier by the station that takes you across to Exmouth, another lovely seaside town.
The ferry runs from April to October and you can take your bikes across with you if you wish.
There is a spar shop within 5 minutes walk which is usually well stocked to cover most of your needs.

The accommodation is a one bedroom very spacious flat and been refurbished to a high standard whilst maintaining the charm of an older property.
You enter the property from the main road through a wide old door, the entrance hall has french doors leading to a bright and spacious hallway.
There is a large kitchen, lounge, diner which is well equipped and has a home from home feel. It is heated with modern central heating radiators and has a modern contemporary kitchen. The lounge area has ample comfortable seating, tv, dvd, games and puzzles for your amusement.
The kitchen has an up to date fan assisted oven, electric hob, microwave and fridge freezer. It has a good selection of pots and pans including a stainless steel steamer which I always look for when I stay away.
There is WiFi throughout the apartment with good connectivity.

The bedroom is large by modern standards , it has a king size bed and a single bed. There’s plenty of storage and a comfy chair to relax in.
One of the sofas in the lounge is a metal frame sprung sofa bed which is very comfortable.
The bathroom is of an excellent standard with fitted cabinets, bath, toilet basin and a separate shower cubicle.
The accommodation is best suited to 2 couples or a family with a maximum of 3 children.
PLEASE NOTE THERE IS ONLY ONE BEDROOM

We have our own Car park so parking is always available and best of all it’s FREE.....

New for 2020 secondary glazing throughout
This has cut out the noise from the main road and made the flat even more warm and cosy.

Guests can access the car park on the opposite side of the road to park their vehicle and get to the railway.
Guests have access through the front door of the property and once inside have use of the bedroom to the left the bathroom and the kitchen lounge diner. There is a large hallway which can be used to keep bikes in to keep them safe.

Cockwood has two lovely pubs which serve great food, however in the holiday season they can get quite busy so it is always best to phone and book.

Nearby in Starcross you have 2 public houses that serve food and 1 mile away you have the delightful Cockwood Harbour, apart from being a really nice walk to Cockwood you will find 2 great places to eat, The Anchor and The Ship, they both serve a variety of good food and local ales.
In the other direction you have Powderham Castle which has lots of events throughout the summer, there is a really nice farm shop and cafe there, not to be missed even if visiting the castle isn’t your thing.
You can walk to the 9 hole golf course for a bit of fun, it’s approximately 15 minutes walk from the house. It’s open from April to October and serves as a reserve for Canadian geese and other birds during the winter months.
We are 8 miles by road from Exeter’s great city, there are many bars and restaurants there to tempt you if food is your thing.
Exeter is a Fabulous city with some great architecture and a fantastic Cathedral.
Exeter’s city centre can be accessed by train from right outside the apartment if you wish to avoid driving and parking in the city centre.
The river Exe runs right through Exeter and there’s great walks all around the quay not to mention some lovely old pubs.
We are on route 2 cycle path for those of you that are keen cyclists and there’s plenty of room for you to bring your bikes along and store them indoors.
If you’ve got children, Cofton is a holiday camp 2 miles away that has a swimming pool and other leisure activities that kids adore. Visitors are always welcome at Cofton....
Devon has so much to see and do you would never be short of things to amuse and amaze you.

I’m Cala, my husband Chip and I have lived at the Old Post Office for 4 years and spent a lot of time refurbishing the old place, it was quite dilapidated when we moved in and needed a lot of TLC. We love Starcross and the surrounding area and hope that all our guests will to. We enjoy walking, wildlife, fantastic scenery, good food and wine, fairly simple beasts really.
