The apartment is on the first floor of a recently restored period building in the heart of the historic Ballarò market, 200m from Via Maqueda.
Vitality and multi-ethnic character make this place one of the most picturesque in the city. It is a beating heart that can not be spontaneous. Smells, sensations and pure energy are ready to overwhelm you in an atmosphere of ancient local traditions that have not lost their authenticity and genuineness.
Ready for the adventure?

Stedet
Before booking advice to take a ride on the internet to see the market. The market is noisy by day but quiet at night.
If you want to make a stay of good food this is the right place but if you want to stay in the typical residential district, unfortunately it is not for you.
The apartment consists of a single "flat" air-conditioned room, free wi-fi with the use of a tablet as a "hot-spot" that you can take with you to the city (be careful not to lose it). Inside there are apps that will allow you to visit the old city with descriptions in English and Italian.
Other services are: kitchen, refrigerator and everything needed for cooking; from frying pans to spices. In the private bathroom you will find a hairdryer, towels, detergents and accessories for personal hygiene.
From the balcony you can see the market as if you were suspended on one of the typical red tents of the place.

Andre ting det er verdt å merke seg
The Market under the apartment is almost always noisy during the day except Sunday but just close the windows to soften the merchants' voices.
The Arab tradition wants that the goods are advertised with great enthusiasm, it could be a good experience to attend this custom from their balcony but if this is not more beautiful just close the window to return to serenity.

The shower is not suitable for people over 120kg since the standard shower tray measures 60x60cm.

Check in: from 14:00 to 18:00 (please advise at the time of booking if you arrive after the closing time check in).

Check out: before 11:00.

Palermo, Sicilia, Italia

Palermo. 28 centuries of history, one of the largest historical centers in Europe. 280 hectares divided into four quadrants, one of these is the Albergheria and half of it is occupied by the oldest market in the city, "Ballarò".
The districts: Castellammare (Vucciria market), Kalsa (Piazza Magione, Piazza Marina), Monte di pietà (Capo market), Albergheria (Ballarò market).

The motto of the place?
Ballarò is magic ...

A few steps from the apartment is the "room of wonders" recently discovered by those who had purchased the apartment. It is a room of an intense blue with golden Arabic inscriptions. At 100 meters of the apartment there is the Church of the Carmine. You can climb the tower of San Nicolò di Bari where you can see the most beautiful view of Palermo. Why? Because below you will see the market between diligence and nobility and you will be surrounded by all the most beautiful works of Palermo, the sea and Monte Pellegrino. What Goethe called "the most beautiful promontory in the world", instead if you go up on the roof of the cathedral, what will you see? All the beauties of Palermo except the most beautiful, that is the cathedral itself :)

Ballarò market is considered by many "the ancient medieval market" in fact its origins date back to the Arab period, it exists since the ninth century. Nearby you will meet different ethnic groups (no racism please and remember to smile). There will be a redevelopment that includes a new covered market and almost total pedestrianization that also includes the main axis of Via Maqueda. It is a part of the city that develops slowly between ancient, ancient and modern. A heterogeneous environment composed of economic and noble buildings, dilapidated and renovated buildings. Asphalted and paved roads. Summing up...

Ballarò is purely mixed. ;)

Hi, I'm Daniel. I'm 28 years old, I'm studyng architecture. I have a little craft workshop near the Zisa castle, an arab-Norman turist site of Palermo. I love travelling and discover new horizons. Airbnb has given me the opportunity to combine everything I love and I would like my guests to enjoy all that my city offers. PS: remember to smile and eat local food ;) Ciao, sono Daniele. Ho 28 anni e studio architettura.
