Hear the peaceful Sandy River from this knotty pine 1930's cabin with blue tin roof, on historic Barlow Trail Rd. This cozy cabin is filled with plants, vintage, & mid century decor. Get warm by the wood stove, & watch it rain or snow from the large picture windows. Enjoy the spacious kitchen with new appliances. Relax in the tranquil outdoor space among ferns, cedar trees, fire pit, & bbq.

Stedet
This cabin is perfect for a couple, 2 couples, (3 couples if one sleeps on futon in living room), a friends weekend, or a family. We have 2 bedrooms (1 with Q and 1 with K), plus a very nice Q futon in the living room, and a twin air mattress if you need it. The space is open, yet cozy, charming with a rustic feel, but has modern amenities like dishwasher and new mattresses. The back lawn is peaceful and you can hear the Sandy River! Watch from the large picture windows as the rain or snow falls while you sit by the wood stove, or use the ROKU to enjoy some movies or tv! We are set back away from the road, but you can hear traffic from Barlow Trail Rd if you are in the front yard or have the front windows open...but if you are in the backyard, or only have the river-facing windows open, you mostly only hear the river! You can see two somewhat distant neighbors through the trees in the winter, but in the spring and summer, you don't see neighbors due to foliage.
HEAT: The home will be around 60 degrees when you arrive. You'll need to follow instructions to turn on other heaters to heat the home, and in winter months, you will most likely need to start a fire. If you plan to use our wood, you may need to chop larger pieces with our splitting mull. The electric heat sources can heat the home to around 65 in living room area, and 70 in bedrooms. Some guests have found the living room area to be chilly without using the wood stove. The wood stove can heat the entire cabin on it's own if you keep it going. It’s so cozy & sometimes too hot! We provide wood for guests from October-April for guests who plan to use the wood stove as their SOLE source of heat, but please bring your own newspaper and kindling. In the cabin, there are detailed instructions for how to use the wood stove effectively. If you plan to use the woodstove from May-September, you’ll need to bring your own wood.

More often than not, we can offer late check-out or early check- in, just ask :)

Gjestetilgang
Feel free to use condiments from refrigerator, spices, wifi, basic cable tv, and records for the record player. We provide wood to guests that plan to only use the wood stove for their source of heat. Please bring your own kindling, matches, and newspaper to start your fire. You can get all of these items a mile down the road at the Brightwood Store.

Andre ting det er verdt å merke seg
When you arrive, the cabin will likely be around 60 degrees, and you need to either turn up the two space heaters and the bedroom wall heaters, or start a fire in the wood stove. Some people have found the cabin to not reach above 65 in the main living area without using the wood stove, and others have been very comfortable without using the woodstove. Wood is available for guests who want to use the wood stove. The stove is very warm and can heat the entire home after 1-2 hours.

We have some of our belongings here, but our belongings are stored in two closets, the rest is yours! We have distant neighbors, but you cannot see them due to the trees. We are set back away from the road, but you can hear traffic from Barlow Trail Rd if you are in the front yard...but if you are in the house or in the backyard, you mostly hear the river!
