Nestled in beautiful Southern New Zealand native bush, just 15min drive from Queenstown, this funky kiwi cabin will be sure to soothe your soul.
Beautiful Bobs Cove is a 10min stroll across the road, or lay in bed and enjoy watching the sun bounce off the water from the comfort of your ensuite bedroom.
Fantastic for families to explore, and superb for the couple that wants to get away without distancing themselves too far from the lights and amenities of world famous Queenstown.
Come and stay!

Stedet
Winter in Queenstown is stunning. Snow-capped mountains, clear blue skies and cold temperatures. At Red Beech Retreat it's no different, and being nestled in the beautiful Bob's Cove, we are under the shadow of Jessie's Peak for most of winter. Red Beech Retreat will see very little sun in the heart of winter. It is a cold but wonderful winter wonderland to stay in.
This quirky cabin is completely secluded, modern, well equipped and has a real touch of kiwi nostalgia! It has recently been renovated, so the interior is brand new as of July 2017. Double glazed, heat pump, fully insulated, you'll have a warm stay no matter what the weather brings. There is one large living room and an ensuite Queen bedroom. The custom built sofa in the lounge is big enough to accommodate a tall adult if required. The space is family friendly and will easily accomodate two children, with a day bed (or mattress on the floor), and port-a-cot available.
A sloping grass lawn is the only access, a short 100m walk from the car. This can be frosty in Winter, so please tread carefully. Note! You cannot drive this 100m stretch between the carpark and the Cabin.
It has its own fully equipped kitchen with all appliances including a full oven, microwave, Fridge/Freezer, kettle, toaster, and a washing machine (washing powder provided). All cookware etc is provided. FREE coffee, tea, hot choc, milk, and a welcome treat are supplied for you. FREE cooking essentials supplied, including oil, salt and pepper, and dried herbs and spices.
The cabin is situated in the corner of our large property completely shielded from our home by mature native trees and bushes. It has uninterrupted sweeping views down over the lawn to Lake Wakatipu and Bobs Cove from the bedroom. There is a heat pump, a heater, an electric blanket on the bed, spare blankets, and a spare duvet to keep you toasty. The bathroom has a wall heater and heated towel rail, a super funky shower, and body wash soap is provided.
Due to the rural location cell phone reception is very limited. But we have phones in the main house you can use if required. This is a proper secluded getaway.

Gjestetilgang
During your stay you are more than welcome to roam the extensive garden as you wish. There is a clothes drier in the main house that we are happy to help you use, if you need something dried for the next day.

Andre ting det er verdt å merke seg
We may well be able to accommodate a late check-out or early check-in...please just ask!
The cabin sits under a massive hill (Jessie's Peak) which is covered in native Southern Red Beech forest. The forest is home to many native birds which are often seen on our property. Most commonly sighted breeds include Kereru, Waxeye, Tui, Bellbird, Fantail, Harrier Hawk, and the introduced Thrush, Chaffinch, Blackbird, and Californian Quail. Less commonly you may see Tomtit, NZ Falcon and Morepork (at night). In the neighbouring reserve Paradise ducks and Oyster Catchers are common. Wild goats have also been known to pay us a visit!
We have a dog called Fox who lives with us down at the main house, he's really friendly and has boundless energy! Please let us know if anyone in your group is nervous about dogs, or alternatively if you'd like to throw him a ball you'll have a friend forever!

Beliggenhet

Queenstown, Otago, New Zealand

The retreat is located in Bobs Cove, which is a small quiet community, a short 15 min drive from the centre of bustling Queenstown. Due to its close proximity to town there are no shops here but thats the way we like it! A small childrens playground with some fun swings is a 3 minute walk away and there are many tracks to explore on the short walk down to the lake.
Bobs Cove is a real natural playground ... there is a half hour nature loop trail with native tree identification signs for the botanists (kids love it), another loop trail that takes you to the high-point of the Bobs Cove peninsula (about 1-1.5 hours looping back to the cabin), and a linking trail between Bobs Cove and 12 mile delta. Mountain bikes are permitted on these trails. A further lakeside trail called the Bridle track, traces the path used by parties in times past travelling to Glenorchy and onward to the West Coast. It is a narrow two-way track, again in stunning native bush taking around 1.5 to 2 hours return from the cabin.
Queenstown boasts oodles of awesome mountain biking opportunities from the hardcore downhill tracks to cruisy lakeside trails. Close to Bob's Cove we have 7-mile bike park, just 3 minutes drive back toward town which has numerous single-track options, and links to other trails including Golddigger, Phoenix and beyond....talk to Tom!

Kia ora! We are a family of four (well five if you include our black dog)! I am a Mum and a physiotherapist who grew up in Queenstown. Tom, who hails from England, has adopted Queenstown as his home. We are keen outdoorsy folk who live and breathe mountains. Both avid skiiers and mountain bikers, we love Queenstown and making the most of the opportunities offered to us in this stunning landscape. I am a keen cook and gardener, and Tom is particularly handy on 2-wheels, and wielding a chainsaw. We LOVE travelling, and equally LOVE hosting traveller's keen to explore our fantastic region. Come stay and share this beautiful slice of paradise with us!
