If you are trying to save some dollars and rent further south, beware that the road gets windy and what looks like a short distance on the map may be an extra 20-30 minute drive.

Our brand new and beautiful 4600 sq. ft. (427 sq. meter) LUXURY house has two identical separate floors (2300 sq. ft. on each floor). The house is super comfortable with everything you can possibly need including a 6 person hot tub on the top floor lanai, and a breath taking 180-degree view of the mountain and the ocean.

If you don't rent both floors (whole house) someone else may be renting the ground floor. The floors have separate entrances and are completely separated. If you want to rent the Ground Floor $223 nightly, check out our listing "White Kona Whale House - Ground Floor".

The house is a perfectly located getaway, close to Kona, in a beautiful area with the old Hawaiian feeling just above historical Kealakekua Bay (ranked as #11 by CNN as world's best snorkeling destinations and #1 among the Hawaii islands).

You can rent the top floor ($286 US + one time cleaning fee $229 including taxes; 4 guests; 2 BR/2 BA), or the whole house/two floors $454 US + one time cleaning fee $400 including taxes (max 8 guests + 2 small children in folding beds). Prices include Hawaii taxes of 14.42 %. You need to contact us if you want to rent the whole house. You can't book the whole house instantly. Owner will then need to update the price manually.
If you rent either of the floors, someone else may be renting the other floor. The floors have separate entrances and are completely separated.

Half of the 2300 sq. ft. area on each floor consists of a covered lanai, great for enjoying your morning espresso while watching the sun climbing over the mountain top, or watch the sun set over the ocean while enjoying our 8 people dinner table when the chef is cooking on the outdoor grill. At night you will be amazed by our spacious 6-person hot tub on the top floor lanai while gazing the stars. With a fantastic 180-degree view of the mountain and the ocean, Kealakekua Bay to Honaunau, you can sit for hours just relaxing in our patio chaise loungers.

The top floor has a beautiful kitchen and living room all in one while the ground floor has the same layout, but the ground floor kitchen is without an oven and a regular cook top. Instead it has a dual hot plate. Both floors have a microwave oven and a large Weber outdoor propane grill on the lanai. Both floors have beautiful quartz stone counter tops. You can cook in the kitchen and watch the 65-inch 4K TV in the living room at the same time, or have a drink and a snack at the kitchen island that seats 4, while you are watching the chef preparing your food. Enjoy your dinner on one of the two lanais at our big dinner tables which seats up to 8. Both floors look the same and are set up the same, but the top floor has 15 ft. ceilings.

Each floor has 2 bedrooms with attached bathrooms with shower and toilets and walk in closets. Each floor sleeps 4 people (1 King and 2 Twin beds) and there is a possibility to put in one extra folding bed on each floor with memory foam (perfect for children). The living rooms on each floor have 65 inch TVs and luxury sofas.

When you wake up in your bed in the morning, open your eyes, look through the big sliders and be swept away by the amazing ocean view. On each floor there are two bedrooms with two private bathrooms and walk in closets. At 1100 ft. the temperature is just perfect, 80 degrees during the day and 70 degrees at night. You sleep great at this elevation without an air conditioning.

Our house is perfectly located in a beautiful green and quite neighborhood with an easy driveway and plenty of parking. Just minutes away from shopping and the best breakfast place on the island, The Coffee Shack.

Your first day, you are most likely heading down to Kealakekua Bay, to snorkel, watch wild spinner dolphins in the morning or kayaking. Either way it’s a convenient 12-minute drive. Your second day, you may want to go south for 20 minutes and visit the sandy and most private beach of Hookena, one of the gems when it comes to beaches in the area, with great swimming and sometimes plenty of wild dolphins. The third day another gem is Honaunau National Historical Park (10 minutes drive). One of the evenings, you can drive 10 minutes north for fine dining at Keei Café, or just have great food at Annie's Burger, or continue another 10 minutes north for all the choices Kailua-Kona has to offer.

Our house is a great base for exploring the Island. We love to go around the Island for a long day, or if you haven’t done it before, stay a night in Hilo to have some more time exploring the area. Driving around the Island in one day, starting at 6 AM, will allow time for a visit to the Volcano, lunch in Hilo, driving the amazing 4-Mile Scenic Drive through the rain forest, experiencing Akaka Falls just before sunset and then coming back through Waimea and Kona around 8 PM. Adding another day will make time for a visit to Hilo Zoo, it’s a blast for the children, and watch the lava flow at night.

We always love to come back to the peace and calmness of our neighborhood and the house after a long day on the road. Going north of Kona to the resorts is an easy 45-minute drive, and will be fun for a day. Hilton Waikoloa is well worth a visit just to get the feeling of how nice it is to be back at the house! There are several great beaches up north as well. The largest sandy beach on the island is Hapuna Beach Park (50 minute drive up north).

The airport is 6 miles north of Kailua-Kona. Our house is perfectly located 14 miles south of Kailua-Kona. As a reference, Kona Paradise is another 12 miles or 25 minutes south of our house further away from Kailua-Kona.

Aloha! We have been coming to this magical Island of Hawaii for 20 years. We first visited Hawaii to attend a Dolphin course, and it was one of the best experiences we have ever had, beyond words. The Big Island and the area around Kealakekua Bay has been our choice even though we have traveled to the other Hawaiian Islands and around the world. The weather, the ocean, the beauty, the people, the diversity, the Hawaiian spirit and the Dolphins have always called us back.

The Kealakekua Bay area has always been our top pick of places on the Big Island. It's green, lush and beautiful and you can still feel the old Hawaiian culture. It's a great location for snorkeling, adventure, scuba diving and to swim with wild dolphins.
The airport is 6 miles north of Kailua-Kona. Our house is perfectly located 14 miles south of Kailua-Kona. Kona Paradise is another 12 miles south of our house. Our house is close to everything you can possible need. Just 5 minutes away from a large grocery store. One of the biggest hospitals on the Island is close as well. Several ATM and banks are 8 minutes away. Kealakekua Bay, Ke'ei Beach and Honaunau, also called Two Step, are just a few miles away and offers great snorkeling at beautiful coral reefs, the possibility to watch wild dolphins and large turtles. You can kayak over to the Historical Captain Cook monument and snorkel at one of Hawaii's best coral reefs. The Coffee Shack is just a few minutes away. They serve great breakfast, lunch or just a nice cup of Kona coffee with award winning cakes you'll never forget. If you like to enjoy a really good massage to a reasonable price it is just a 10 minutes drive to Aloha Massage Academy in the small town called Kainaliu. In this small town you can also find a yoga studio called Yoganics, small shops and amazing Italian ice cream at Gypsea Gelato. Close by is one of the best restaurants on the Island called Keei Cafe, where you can get a very special dinner. If you want a great burger you have to visit Annie's Island Fresh Burgers. Kona Boys is also close by if you want to rent a kayak, surfboard or snorkel gear.
