Do I need a license to take my guests to public areas or monuments in Rio?

Maybe. You may need permission to provide certain guided tours in Rio. If you have a guide tour permit, there is nothing to worry about. However, if you do not possess a tourist guide permit, it is unlikely that you incur in regulatory issues as long as you follow the following:

• You do not act nor identify yourself as a tour guide nor claim guide benefits for cultural activities such as walking tours, visiting museums and historical/archeological landmarks; or
• You use third party services with current tour guide licenses.
