Dette kommer dere til å gjøre

Located in Benton, PA at Barakah Heritage Farm.

Meet gorgeous and friendly rare black Arabian horses.

We are the ONLY Malabar Jilfan farm globally and the only Malabar farm open to the public. Only 200 Malabars and a few Jilfan exist globally.

Expect our friendly curious black beauties to sniff and nuzzle you, or ask you to scratch their itchy spots - each horse has a favorite spot. The most fortunate catch Nasr talking in his sleep during his afternoon nap.
Selfies are welcomed, and the horses are stunning.

Your experience happens in the spacious open-air barn. Upon arrival, expect a friendly greeting from Runa, our big white fluffy dog. You then learn the Malabar and Jilfan stories, discuss the history and politics of rare breed and Arabian preservation, and hear the fun story of how host Carrie's toddler obsession with horses led to working with the Malabar Jilfan Arabians.

We introduce you to each horse, sharing their unique personalities; the resident shoe thief, one who prefers cherries over apples (guess correctly to win a prize) and who has the record number of selfies with a horse's back end.

We hope guests learn something new while making beautiful furry friends, and take home one-of-a-kind photo memories.

I've been riding and studying horses for more than 40 years. I am the author of The Healing of Horses and The Energetic Goat, published by Acres USA, and accept a select few apprentices each year for study on site. I originally learned horsemanship at the last junior cavalry school in the country, New Canaan Mounted Troop. I have years of experience with critically endangered species, from Red Wolves to Fainting Goats, and now critically endangered Arabian horse bloodlines. I specialize in introducing people to horses and horsemanship and the importance of rare breed preservation. Our farm treats horses as fellow conscious beings, and asks the horses to be partners by their own free will in teaching people . I blog and teach about rescue/adoption and breeding the critically rare bloodlines.

Her skal du være

You will be in the large barn at Barakah Heritage Farm, where East West Equestrian Arts is based. The barn is airy with a gentle breeze most days, well-lit, and gives us freedom to meet the horses in all weather except severe storms.

Fun experience. Carrie has extensive knowledge of her farm animals that she is willing to share. She is alert and will look out for your safety since the experience is close proximity with large animals. One horse loves taking selfies with visitors.

This was an experience for the record books. Absolutely amazing. Carrie’s level of passion and knowledge for life, ethical regenerative farming, and all things equine were infectious to say the least. She is captivating and so welcoming from the first moments of meeting her on her property. The stories of her journey to true happiness is touching and inspiring.

Days of hiking sound relaxing- and they are- but nothing like spending time with these beautiful animals. Rubbing the neck of a horse while he looks at you with those eyes that could melt butter make you want to stay there all day. Carrie's knowledge was fascinating and made us appreciate more the caretakers of so many creatures that we take for granted.

Carrie and Casey were wonderful in introducing me and my two daughters ages 8 & 9 to these beautiful animals. There is so much peace in these horses and you can tell from the way Carrie narrates their story and lives, it is filled with so much love. The outhouse is clean as well and not like anything like little house on the prairie. That was my biggest concern. This was a wonderful day for my family and I’m so grateful.

Super interactive and a great experience for the family or anyone. We had a great time and loved petting and interacting with the horses and other animals too.

Carrie was a wonderful host and very informative. We had a chance to really interact with the horses... even the Donkey was a ball! Carrie is very knowledgeable and she also has great stories behind the personalities and arrival of all the horses. Be SURE to where old shoes or boots as you'll be walking through an open field and will encounter horse manure piles as expected during an interactive experience like this so come prepared.
