See a different side of Lake Lucerne and hike off the beaten track with a local guide who can answer all your questions. Hike the easy trails of the Seelisberg peninsula and visit a small cheese factory where you can taste and buy delicious rare local cheese. Also included two boat rides and a historic funicular ** I meet my Guests at Brunnen Station. A short boat and funicular ride will take us to the little alpine village of Seelisberg, Uri. We find ourselves on top of a 400m/12000ft sheer cliff high above the 'Lake of Uri' bay of Lake Lucerne. The 180 degree panorama of Lake and surrounding peaks is breathtaking. Right below us is the Rütli Meadow, the sacred birthplace of Switzerland. The water has incredible shades of blue. I will answer questions on this Landscape of Tales and Traditions, History and Trade Routes, Swiss Independence and William Tell. After the view point we will have a short stop at the small mountain cheese factory where they show us how the local cheese is made. From there we start our easy hike, sloping slowly downward for 1 hour with ever changing views of the peaceful lake below. Over meadows with little farms, cows, wildflowers and clifftop forests, we reach the secluded Rütli meadow, where Switzerland was founded in 1291. Another Boat will take us back to resort town Brunnen from there, where the experience ends.
I am a native of Central Switzerland, who lives part time in New York. My background is the Airline Industry, but I love Nature, the Mountains, good Food and People and am endlessly stimulated by the Contrast between New York and the Alps. I am an Expert in History, living Traditions and all other aspects of Life in this part of Switzerland - I would love to show guests the spectacular fjord-like setting of the 'Lake of Uri' bay of Lake Lucerne and take them for easy hikes and show them my favorite spots.

Canton Uri, one of Switzerlands three founding States and it's fjord-like Lake Uri, in my opinion the most beautiful part of Lake Lucerne. The mountain village of Seelisberg, with a peek into its cheese factory. The largely road-less Seelisberg Peninsula and the sacred Rütli Meadow where Switzerland was founded in 1291.
