Dette kommer dere til å gjøre

A cycling cultural tour of Orlando West in Soweto, where political Icons lived during Apartheid fighting against the regime. Sharing stories about different family generations, how apartheid had an impact in everyone, and how Soweto has changed today.
The cycling tour will start in Killarney, an upcoming tourist destination in Soweto. We will talk first about how this township was created in 1904 and share the history of these neighbourhoods. We will ride to Mzimhlophe and visit the only former women’s hostel as a separate area. We continue to Mama Lillian Mgoyi's home, an anti-apartheid activist, then cycle to Hector Pietersen Museum where the Soweto uprising transpired which was one of the turning point of apartheid. You will then be introduced to the famous house of Nelson Mandela, where he lived until he was imprisoned for 27 years. We will also show you Arch bishop Desmond Tutu's house in the popular Vilakazi Street, and talk about his impact in the down fall of Apartheid.
Time for LUNCH! You are going to taste the delicious local burger called "Kota" before cycling back to our starting point.
Other things to note
If you need we can organise a pick up and drop off at your location for an extra R500.

Born and raised in Soweto, a township of Johannesburg, I have been working in tourism for over 8 years and have created my own successful tourism company in 2017. One Day Africa! I am a street photographer, and a storyteller.
I have a good understating of the history of Apartheid in South Africa and the impact it has between the older and the younger generation that still lives here. I love to share personal stories about the new South Africa, how apartheid has impacted everyone and how it has changed our lives.

What an incredible tour and hosts! My partner and I had an enjoyable first day in South Africa and Soweto, getting to know the history of Soweto and the wonderful cultural place it is today! Never a dull moment with plenty of laughs along the way. Would highly recommend this tour and One Day In Soweto tours!
