Who was John Hancock besides the guy with the big signature? Did Sam Adams brew beer? What did John Adams do before he was President?

We’ll get to know the forgotten heroes James Otis & Joseph Warren.

Paul Revere is so much more than “the midnight rider”.

We will walk along the Freedom Trail & see the New & Old Massachusetts State House, Boston Common, Granary Burial Ground, King’s Chapel Church, Old & New City Hall, Old South Meeting House, Faneuil Hall & Quincy Market. We will walk the colonial streets on the way to the Old North Church & Paul Revere’s House. While in the North End, if time allows, we will visit a bread shop most local don’t even know about!

We will also talk about Boston’s many claims to fame: America’s first public park & botanical garden, subway, oldest candy company & baseball stadium - Go Sox!

This is primarily a Freedom Trail tour with the addition of the biographies & motivations of the important figures of the Revolutionary War. It is also an overview of Boston & the many things that makes it special.

Come spend a few hours with me - by the end of the tour I believe you will love Boston too!
Other things to note
Wear comfortable walking shoes & dress for the weather. A 2 mile walk=4-5,000 steps! Uneven sidewalks.

Bring water!!!! & sunscreen.

I want to introduce you to the “Rock Stars” of the American Revolution! We will walk along the Freedom Trail & talk about the people behind the events of the early years of the American Revolution.

Let’s talk grudges & affairs & a traitor at work well before Benedict Arnold!

I will bring the Patriots to life through our discussion of the 1760s to early 1776.

I will tell you the motivations & actions of Samuel Adams, John Hancock, John Adams & my favorite - Paul Revere. Also some virtually forgotten early heroes like Sons of Liberty James Otis & Dr. Joseph Warren.

We’ll explore the history & the sites of Boston together. (If time allows I’ll take you to a hidden bread shop that most locals don’t know about too...)

Ellen was a great guide! We got to see and learn all about Boston from a very informative local. History is rich here, and Ellen is sure to well inform! We enjoyed the experience and felt safe on this outdoor tour. Very worth it as we were able to see and learn all about the city in a safe and timely manner! Masks were kept on at all times. A useful map was provided as well. If you’re lucky Ellen will show you a hidden gem along the way 🥖!

My husband and I came to learn the history of Boston and Ellen really delivered on that. She had soo many stories and covered so much history. We left really feeling like we learned what we needed. Due to COVID we were actually able to have the tour all to ourselves and it was seriously fantastic to have such a personalized tour where we could ask anything and everything. As long as you can stand a while, the walking didn’t seem long at all. It was very educational and I would definitely recommend Ellen as your tour guide, very genuine and warm.

Our tour with Ellen was absolutely wonderful! She is a wealth of historical knowledge about the city, it’s buildings and events. She made the whole experience a story with connections to the different historical events and characters. We had a very small group so she was able to personalize it and I very much enjoyed getting to know her. She walked us through many historical sites and even referenced some we were not able to get to. Along the way she made sure to point out other modern attractions and places I might like to visit during my stay in the city. Overall, I could not have asked for a better experience.

Ellen is incredibly knowledgeable about the Freedom Trail history and beyond! Even for a non-history buff like myself, her content was interesting and engaging. Ellen has a knack for bringing centuries-old stories to life and making the city feel accessible for visitors.

This was my first time to Boston and Ellen made it so special. She clearly has a deep knowledge of the freedom trail/Boston. She also throws in some great facts about Boston in general along the way. I wouldn’t have wanted to do the freedom trail any other way. Take this tour! It’s worth your time.
