A wonderfully relaxing way to start the day in Amsterdam!

Amazing that you're coming to Amsterdam! Amsterdam is a real cycling city and the bike is the best way to discover the city. In 2 hours you will explore the city highlights in a small group of up to 4 people at an easy pace.

You start in the oldest part of the city. The area where the houses were originally made of wood. There are only two of them left. You will see houses that were built on the run and discover the story behind the dancing houses with beautiful top gables and the many tablet stones.

You continue to the Dam Square, the main square in Amsterdam where a remarkable stone in front of the royal palace is located.

The tour heads on to the canal district. The area where the wealthy from the 17th century lived. What did society look like at that time and where did they earn their money from?

Behind the canal district lies the Jordaan, a neighborhood of craftsmen and immigrants. Very different from the canal district. A neighborhood of courtyards, but older and more numerous are forts - some even came into existence before 1614.

You'll discover it all on this 2-hour bike ride through Amsterdam. Next to the bike ride, you get a ticket for a 1 hour canal cruise, so you can enjoy the beautiful houses along the canals by boat afterwards.

Hi my name is Hans and ever since I was a small boy, growing up in the east of the Netherlands, I have been fascinated by my country's history, landscape and culture.

In 1996 I completed a PhD in European history at the University of Amsterdam and since then I have been leading tours through Amsterdam and the Netherlands. It has been a constant pleasure for me to show off the most beautiful spots of the Netherlands to new arrivals and reveal just some of its charms, secrets and unbelievable stories.

My academic background has given me extensive knowledge of Europe's history and culture but my guiding experience has also included flower themed tours as well as waterland tours which explore the countryside of the Netherlands.

It was a really great experience with Hans as he took us to parts of Amsterdam we would have never been to on our own and taught us so many things. Plus cycling through the streets of Amsterdam was really fun and he ensured the safety of each one of us. Totally recommend

Hans was very knowledgable and interesting. He gave us a great insight into life in and history of Amsterdam. Together with the cycling around the city, the information shared by Hans made for a wonderful couple of hours

We had a wonderful bike tour with Hans, which ended up going on for about an hour longer than we expected (making it really excellent value for money!). Hans was very friendly and his instructions for meeting to start the bike tour were informative and easy to follow. There were 4 of us on our tour with Hans, which made it feel very personal and unique. The bikes themselves were comfortable and well-maintained, and Hans was always checking to make sure he hadn't left any of us behind (cycling in Amsterdam is quite an experience because it's a bit of a free-for-all, in Hans' words "there are no rules"). We stopped off in many different locations and Hans told us about the history of the city and particular buildings. A personal favourite of mine was stopping off and exploring the smallest house in Amsterdam! What an excellent experience, thanks so much Hans!
