A hands-on online class to learn how to make traditional Chinese dumplings with pork and cabbage using easy-to-find ingredients found in most western (non-Asian) supermarkets. We will make the wrappers and fillings from scratch, learn an easy way to wrap the dumplings, and cook one small batch of dumplings so we could taste together before the end of the class.

Dumplings are meant to be made in large batches, together with friends and family of all ages. It is the ultimate comfort food in all of Asia. I'm based in Seattle, but as long as you have Internet, you could join me in this online class so I could share with you, my family's recipe originally from Hong Kong.

Here's the detailed itinerary:
- After introductions and safety reminders, we put on our aprons, wash our hands and start with the dough to make the wrappers.
- While the dough is setting, we will prepare the fillings from scratch which will involve some chopping.
- Once the dough is ready, we can roll them into little discs for wrapping.
- Learn a fool-proof way to wrap the dumplings.
- While the dumplings are being cooked, we could talk more about the different ways to wrap and cook the dumplings

This Experience is great for team-building and larger groups. Book a private experience for your group by suggesting a new date that is not offered right now, or simply send me a message.
Other things to note
Price is per person rather than per device/household. Recipe is for 12 large dumplings. We'll work with a dough so sanitize your work area. Use a stand for your phone/tablet at an angle where I could see your work and give feedback. Fully charge device or plug it in for the class.

This class was just as described--at a peak level of excellence. Warm atmosphere combined with total preparation, clear instructions that anticipated questions and problems, tips passed down through the generations, and coaching to a successful outcome! I couldn't recommend Elaine and her Dumpling Class more! She is an incredible teacher, has fun stories, and did a great job involving everyone on the video call. On top of that- the dumplings were so delicious. We will be making them all winter!

Making dumplings is so much deeper than I thought. Elaine was an amazing while teach us about culture, history and the simple process of making the best dumplings! Taking this class was a whim.... a moment where I needed a break from Covid and to learn something I've never done before. Elaine stepped up and beyond by, not just being a gracious host, but by also being a seasoned teacher. I highly recommend this class to any one at all. You will come away with more than delicious dumplings. You will come away from this a little happier that you were just before the class!
