Firstly we will set off from Inverness and find out some amazing Loch Ness facts and marvel at the views of the once mighty medieval stronghold, Urquhart Castle, a testament to the power of Clan Chiefs and Scottish Kings, that now stands as a majestic ruin on the banks of the Loch.

Next we will continue on to Black Isle’s famous Glen Ord Distillery, a distillery with almost 200 years of history and of course have a sampling of some fine single malt whisky.

Moving on we then visit the burgh of Beauly, from the French "beau leau", meaning "beautiful place", and the name is not wrong! Enjoy a stroll through the stunning ancient ruins of Beauly Priory, and meet (maybe even feed) the Highland Cows who live close by.

After a break for Lunch we will move on to the emotive and compelling Culloden Battlefield, and hear the chilling story of the conclusion of the Jacobite cause on the site where the last pitched battle fought on the British mainland took place

Lastly after learning all about the Jacobites, we take you even further back in time into prehistory and explore the ancient and atmospheric monuments at Clava Cairns standing stones. Seen recently on the TV show Outlander.

My name is Cameron and I started Happy Tours 12 years ago. I am passionate about Scotland, our History and the place where I live. I stared as an Inverness Walking Tour Guide and developed the company into a fleet of eight small 8 seater buses which gives an intimate feel on the tour. All our co-hosts are guides who dress in a full kilt outfit and we will try to answer all your questions about most things Scottish while showing you the beauty of the Highlands of Scotland
My co-hosts is Bill an exceptional tour guide with a vast knowledge of Scottish history and a passion to pass this on to others

We had the most amazing tour day with Bill! He is such a great storyteller, we learned a lot and he's funny too! I would recommend everyone visiting the Inverness area to explore the region with this tour. Bill can tell and explain about pretty much everything in the area. He's not just a tour guide telling his tourguide lines but he has a personal touch to it and was born and raised in the area. We had a lovely day :) :)

Bill showed up right on time, dressed perfectly. he gave us the required instructions, asked what we wanted to see and off we went. His stories and facts helped us to visualize Inverness and the history of the people in that area, expertly. We saw absolutely EVERYTHING including, I wanted to see hairy coos and he also made that happen. He was warm, friendly and an excellent host , guide and gentlemen.

Drew was our driver/guide and was fantastic. I'd made this a private tour for 4 of us - mainly due to covid safety concerns. I had to make an adjustment to the start time and they were very accommodating. Drew showed up on time and from start to end his stories and explanations were fascinating! We loved the countryside of course and our stops at Culloden and Clava Cairns were especially moving. We enjoyed tea in the small town of Beauly and saw the Harry Potter tree at the Priorty - amazing history! I highly recommend this tour if you are visiting The Highlands. Drew was more than willing to show us any highlight we wanted and I feel like we made a new friend!

I actually ended up going on this same group's Glenfinnan tour after Cameron messaged me that there weren't enough other folks to make the Loch Ness/Urquhart tour a full group. Switching was super easy and Cameron was very helpful and communicative throughout. Our guide was Drew, a genuinely kind and passionate fella who had lots of fun anecdotes and local stories to share as he drove us down to the Glenfinnan viaduct and back (with lots of stops along the way for snacks and photos). I was admittedly a little sad to not be able to go on the tour I originally wanted; however, to my surprise and delight, we stopped at Fort Augustus and had some time to wander around the shores of Loch Ness, and made a quick stop to see and get some photos of Urquhart Castle too! It turned out that some of the folks in my group had toured with Drew earlier in the week but hadn't been able to spot any Highland cows, so as we were getting closer to Inverness, Drew stopped a couple of places and, lo and behold, we all got to see some "wee coos" at the end of the tour. It's clear that this group and their guides love what they do, and want everyone else to fall in love with Scotland too. I had a great time and would certainly book with them again!

Hands down our favourite day of our whole holiday. Bill was a fantastic, hugely knowledgeable and personable guide and brought all of the history to life. We would happily have spent a whole weekend exploring the Highlands guided by Bill if such a tour existed! We learnt so much and really enjoyed the whole day - couldn't recommend the Happy Tour enough. My partner and I were travelling by public transport, and were really pleased that the tour took us to all of the places we had pinned to visit and some fantastic foody locations too! Joining the tour allowed us to not only see all of the spots in one day, but get so much more information on each than we could have achieved on our own. Fantastic personal touches, brilliant guide and a brilliant day we'll be sure to remember : )
