Explore Bath in style with your own Blue Badge Guide. Learn all about Ancient Roman culture and Georgian architecture, and return to Oxford via the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge.
I will meet you in central Oxford where we will begin our day outside the famous Bodleian Library. I will tell you about the University’s fine buildings, its history and some of its famous alumni. We will then board the minibus for the 90 minute journey to Bath. On arrival we'll do a short minibus tour of Bath to familiarise you with some of the main sights. We then park and walk into the centre, dominated by the Abbey and the Roman Baths, the latter an amazing complex showing what Roman - and later Georgian - life was like in the only thermal spa in Britain, where more than a million litres of steaming water gush to the surface every day. Then we do a walk round town, starting at the Abbey and progressing uphill past some of the most splendid sights in the city including Queen's Square, The Circus, Royal Crescent and the Assembly Rooms, where we have a light lunch before leaving Bath for the hour-long journey to Stonehenge. After a ride on the shuttle bus we spend just over an hour at the monument itself, learning about its features and and some of the theories surrounding its construction and use, leaving time for a cup of tea at the Visitor Centre before our return to Oxford.

Based in the beautiful city of Oxford, where I have lived for almost 30 years, I am a Blue Badge Guide for the Heart of England, a region that covers some of the most iconic destinations in the country. The Blue Badge is the UK’s highest guiding qualification. Whilst my training is thorough, my job is also about passion. I enjoy telling my guests about every aspect of a place, its history, architecture, personalities, art, geography; I love the great outdoors, and am just as much at home with industrial heritage as ancient stone circles.
I am a licensed driver-guide with my own minibus, operating from Oxford to destinations all over the region and beyond. I am also a descendant of the Banbury Gullivers, whose graves in St Mary’s churchyard, Banbury, inspired Jonathan Swift to a name for his famous protagonist.

Her skal du være

We'll be starting in Oxford before heading for Bath, a 1hr-50-minute trip passing through the counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire and Somerset. We will spend about 3 hours in Bath, including seeing the Roman Baths Museum and the Abbey, as well as doing a minibus tour and walking tour of the city, and having lunch. It's an hour's drive across country to Stonehenge, spending 2 hours there before returning to Oxford.
