We will start with a meeting at the farm steading to discuss plan for the whole experience, the do's and dont's of farm life and answer any questions guests may have. We will get kitted out with wellies, walking sticks and cameras and then head off together on foot!

There is a short walk uphill from where we get a commanding view of the farm and local area. Here we will discuss the local clan history and how the subsistence agricultural has shaped this beautiful mosaic landscape. Then we will walk to the farm's loch, meeting some of the livestock on the way down. Here we will get to see the collie dogs work to round up the sheep as we discuss all things working dog, sheep and cattle!

When we arrive to the loch we will see the impacts of the beaver population that live on farm. We will discuss the PHD work carried out on them and their wider benefits to the local ecosystem. We'll walk down stream, passing beaver dams and exploring the different ecological niches they've created. As they are so active, every experience will be totally unique.

Growing up on a farm we did a lot of hands on learning. Here I developed a deep empathy for livestock, wildlife and nature from a young age. No surprises that my first ever word was 'tractor'. Since then I have been immersed in the outdoors and animals of our family farm in Scotland. At university I studied Physical Geography and the natural environment. I then moved to Kenya to undertake guide training and I managed camps in wildlife reserves. This greatly broadened my base of information. Since returning to our family farm, and developing it towards a more sustainable operation, I've been keen to teach people about how food is produced, where it comes from and who is responsible. I am so excited to show guests our unique operation, what we do for wildlife and re-engaging them with all our animals. Join my dog and I on a farm adventure!

Our family farm is a picturesque 500 acre upland property, 40% of which is uncultivated natural wild land. This land is aside for nature and is home to some very special Scottish wildlife. We follow farm tracks around worked fields and native woods, spend some time by our beautiful loch (and secret cabin!) and then follow its drainage downstream through the myriad beaver dams. We will see livestock in the fields and meet wildlife in the woods.

We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the farm animals and the wildlife in this beautiful corner of Scotland. Fred was knowledgable and passionate about animal welfare and the biodiversity on the farm. This was the highlight of our holiday in Scotland.

A very special morning. Fred and Sofi have created a really interesting itinerary, packing in a great range of experiences and giving you a real insight into life on a Highland farm. Weaving in the history of the area, there's a sheepdog demonstration and overview of the beaver reintroduction programme down by a secluded loch. Fred has an in depth knowledge of the natural environment and local wildlife and is a great guide.

We had a lovely morning visiting Fred’s farm, we learnt a lot about farming in general but also about the history of the region and the positive impact of beavers. It was clearly one of the highlights of our trip.

Our experience at Fred’s farm was absolutely lovely and beyond our expectations! We were lucky enough to make the tour alone with him. We have learnt so much during the tour and all the stops were well done: from the beginning to the end Fred took the time to talk us through everything: how they make the hay, how they move around their herds, how the beavers work in the area...We even got to see his dog working the sheeps around and enjoyed some lovely biscuits done by Sofia. We also had the chance to pet puppies :-). We definitely recommend this experience to anyone who wants to do something unusual and learn more about nature and environment. Thanks again Fred, it has been the highlight of our trip!

The tour was incredibly varied, from chats about the land and it’s history to re-introduction of beavers in to the wildlife I felt like we came away with things to look out for in our local wildlife also! Great to get to have a better understanding of a working farm and all that’s needed to keep it going. Fred was a great and personal host who shared loads of stories and we felt like we all got to know each other by the end of the 2 and half hours. The surroundings were beautiful, the animals were cute and we’d highly recommend this activity!
