Come and march with us to a different drum this visit to Niagara ...

... straight out onto the battlefield for a tongue-in-cheek exploration of this key War of 1812 site. We walk in the footsteps of campaign leaders and the many local pioneer families caught in between.

We visit the men, women, and families displaced by this pivotal battle exploring the battlefield and piecing together a local's perspective meeting these larger-than-life early Niagara residents.

As we zig-zag the site we'll examine the war from multiple perspectives: merchants, industrialists, farmers, First Nations, British, American & more.

Themes:
The Bonapartes “It's their fault”
The Lundy's Lane Battlefield and adjacent Drummond Hill cemetery
Who lost: the First Nations and casualties
Anthems & the industrial revolutions
Slavery, civil war, rebellions
And why it all matters today

During our walk please afford every respect due to each person's resting place when visiting the cemeteries and memorials. You would want people visiting your gravesite or family memorial to afford it the same respect.

(The discussion can be tweaked to include more or less on one area depending on participant knowledge and preference, i.e. sociological impact, military strategy, reported paranormal activity, etc.) The program can be delivered as a chat discussion or safari-style hunt. Or choose the most popular: a hybrid.

Rob is a language instructor, holiday homestay host, active historian, and competent cook -- who cut his teeth in family kitchens from Lithuania to Hong Kong; and classrooms from Brisbane to Ottawa.

Candice works in the finance industry by day, by night she is a fun-loving, tap dancer and songstress who does a mean barbecue when she isn't looking for new swimming spots and ahem "practicing" her mad yodeling skills.

We are the children of immigrants who love hosting people, sharing from our common experiences—and, of course, making friends from all over the world.

So, please join Rob on a journey through time to the 19th century where you will meet Niagara's pioneer families and their journey from the battlefield to modern times.

Though I have been to Niagara many times, I have never visited the battle grounds or cemetery and I'm so glad I waited to do so on this tour! Rob has an exceptional knowledge of the area and exceeded our expectations as a guide - even extending the tour length to take us to some extra locations. I really appreciate the amount of preparation and detail that went into this tour and would highly recommend to any history buff and to those looking to do something a little bit different in Niagara!

Enlightening and entertaining! Very knowledgeable and had lots of information to share, not only about the history, but also of other things to do in the area.

This tour was amazing! Going into it I didn’t know what to expect but Rob excelled in explain things, ensured to keep it interactive and gave us a broad variety of history. Rob went above and beyond providing us extra information about things to do and local farm stands and went as far as researching a question my fiancé had from the tour and providing us that information. I would recommend this to anyone I know, history lovers or not.

Great walk through time on a crisp, sunny fall day. Just a couple of hours and a couple of hundred years of history and perspectives. Fantastic. So much information taken in and som much more I want to know. Fantastic!

My friend and I did this, hoping for something off the beaten path, so to speak when it comes to going to Niagara Falls. We decided to take this tour to learn and see what we could see....it turned out to be a wonderful experience that was fun, interesting, educational and eye opening. We got much more than we expected, and Robert was chock full of information and history, at the same time made a serious subject entertaining. We recommend this to anyone and will let our friends know if anyone is visiting Niagara Falls.
